2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Probably has done a decent job behind the scenes but that isn't what he is employed for, I feel for him that he walked into a catastrophe but he did steady the ship and he did do really well keeping everything focused on staying up, so yeah kudos for the last 2 seasons he did well.

However, it's making me angry that he's getting away with playing this type of football , I think he is very lucky this season so far that nobody is in control.

Utd are a mess but they've still won a couple of pots but 14th so far isn't good enough for them, when did we start accepting such low standards, we may not be on the level of utd anymore, the prem has seen to that and the media really do kiss the arse of just a few clubs and everyone else is plucky little clubs.

Sick of it, we need to start having more pride, this football is excruciating to watch and people pay good money, it doesn't sit right and the last season in Goodison serving up this tripe it's not on.

Sorry rant over.

A well put rant, though

He'd better hope that these new owners are the types that don't have a clue what they're watching on the pitch.

I doubt he'll manage again once he's finally gone from here. This is Curbishley at West Ham for him.

Indeed mate, but the records show Burnley were relegated once under him.

Even if he stayed and they went down again - there's a reason why he's loved there and there's a pub named after him. Because he overachieved.

Kompany spent more in one summer than Dyche did in his whole time there - and he sent them down.

This will be his last season here, and Everton history will rightly be kind to him.

I still think we got lucky Burnley bulleted him when they did in 21/22, we'll never know of course

We've had this debate before, and my answer to you in April remains;

So, Burnley got relegated under Dyche once - as favourites. And the context is there.

Oxford United are currently 14th, if Dyche took over there tomorrow and got them promoted they'd probably go down next season too.

He has a very good record of keeping relegatio fodder who aren't spending, in the Prem. He's doing that here too, thankfully.

In my view, and one I've long shared even before he was our manager - Dyche would have kept Burnley if they hadn't sold Wood that January, a player who had hit double figures in every season of the 4 full seasons for him. He was by some distance, their most important player - their record signing and 53 goals in 165 games. They went down by 3 points/they couldn't score goals.

And in the first half of that season, oddly, they couldn’t score goals with Wood in the side either, Wood couldn’t score goals, and then they sacked Dyche and their form picked up briefly before the season ended.

🤷‍♂️

Like I say, 53 goals in 165 games for them.

Started the season slowly, it happens - but he was sold with more than half the season to go.

Newcastle were in the relegation zone/had less points per game than Burnley at that stage when they took a relegation rivals best player on a release clause. They ended up finishing 11th

A lot can change between early Jan with most of the season to play - you take your main man/goalscorer and it's going to cost you.

We've had this conversation before, and Wood's record for Forest when people took the piss when I said he was a good signing only goes to reaffirm the point.

If he gets us clear from the bottom 3 by a substantial number of points I'd give him the job for another year at BMD.

Needs one hell of a season really, but even then you have to consider a big rebuild is needed - we don't have enough players come the summer. Is Sean Dyche the right man for that? Does he help attract or impede the type of player we might want to bring in?

I think that audition/new contract factor throws a spanner in the works a bit because he'll be trying to jib pragmatism for playing better. Part of the problem vs Fulham, no identity - not knowing whether to stick or twist.

He got 14 PL goals last season, we’d bite anyone’s hand off for a striker who could do that for us.

How much have they spent/invested under that manager?

You have to factor in reality/chaos around the club.

are you serious?

He’ll be sent packing the moment the inks wet. He plays anti football. Makes your eyes bleed football.

Ale house tin pot clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth and co dominating possession at goodison in our last season.

Pathetic.
