2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

One off game. Wasn't our first choice team either, which escapes a lot of peoples notice seemingly. They can console themselves next season with that though I'm sure, when they mount their push for the play-offs.

I never said it was our first choice. Think we made maybe 3-4 changes. Theirs was almost a full team changed. You’ll make excuses for anything won’t you.

Not making an excuse for anything. It was a poor performance. My 'motm' was Michael Keane which says a lot. It wasn't good enough, and if I see that level of performance and result consistently, I'll be joining in the calls for his head, but in the here and now, I'm happy to judge on the bread and butter of being relatively competitive in the league thanks.

Lots of opinions.
I ask myself. If Dyche left Everton tomorrow would another top flight club even go near him?
After what he's been paid here, I'll be surprised if he doesn't price himself out of ever working again.

The only clubs that would touch him are ones facing relegation when they've budgeted for the following season's Premier League TV money. The better-run smaller clubs would rather just go down with a cheap caretaker in charge.

Errrrrr

Yeah I agree entirely. Although we'll have to agree to disagree over Gueye. He's playing absolutely fine and there's not been any consistent sloppiness from him.

I was mainly just thinking about why we have struggled against a press a lot over the course of a good few years now, and for me it starts with the full backs.

Gueye is a strange one. Sometimes he’s good enough to play football in that PSG team and he’ll show moments of handling a ball very well. Other times like Brighton first game he’s mis hitting a pass across the middle of the park and players are in straight away.

I can remember a game under Ancelotti (might have even been v Burnley or Sheffield United) where were in complete control and one of the defenders just lashed a ball at Davies who took a fat touch and the opposition had it in the back of the net a second later. Ancelotti absolutely ripping his hair out on the touch line. You just can’t legislate for poor technique and there’s so much of that about previous Everton squads and definitely this one. You only need one weak link in the chain and we’ve always got quite a few.

You look at any of the top teams though and they just don’t have it anywhere. Every player in the 11 and every player off the bench can handle and pass a ball as a minimum. They don’t have it bouncing around with players shovelling passes and taking fat touches.

If you supported Southampton you'd be happy with six goals and 1 point after the clocks had gone back? I'd personally be crying out for a Dyche if I was them, but each to their own.
That’s just a vicious circle having a dyche, do you not understand how dynamics are changing in football, for clubs like Southampton and Ipswich you can’t look at this season in isolation. One advantage is there’s a lot of young coaches playing a similar way. If you play a dyche style and want to continue, once you sack him you won’t have a lot of choices

Oh, and for the record. Mcneil played left back, Dixon right back. Virginia in goal. O'brien in defence, Mangala made his first start alongside Armstrong in midfield. Lindstrom played and Beto instead of DCL.

Back 4 - Dixon Keane O Brien McNeil.

We've literally peered over the abyss in two out of the last three years, and people here think the bloke that saved us from death post Lampard and gave us a mostly respectable finish last season should be punted.

Yes he's probably not going to get Champions League, and the football is grim, but we had grim football under Ancelotti as well. Like people need to realise we're much more likely to turn into Charlton rather than Chelsea unless we're really sensible as a club and as a fanbase.

I’ve just heard TFG have pulled out reading your post
