2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I love watching Everton play - always, it doesn't matter whether we are good or bad - in fact im prob more intense and passionate about it when we are bad. I get more excited about watching us as the week goes on as we get to Saturday, I've seen worse Everton sides then this and still be got excited about watching them. I absolutely hate this time the - two week break, really miss it.

I dont understand people who dont watch us because of "entertainment" - not judging them - but i just dont understand it.
Is fair is not well being a good side becuase most of the time this team has been bad for me. But now and well feels like a long time hoe many times do we get to watch a player do abit of skill amd get away from a player. I want see abit of excitement from us now feels like we go 1-0 and you honestly dont think everton will get back into the game and draw.

Its a bit of a contradiction of a statement.

You agree we dominated chances and should've won both games, but the manager sets up not to lose.

So if we dominate chances without setting up not to lose, then we just lose.
Actually you’re right I was quoting someone so I’ll clarify my thoughts .

We were the team that should have won both games , we missed chances but we were basically negative throughout .

So for example That West Ham game just needed someone to grab it by the neck , the only time that happened was when they made 3 subs and got the first time the game actively swung in their favour . They didn’t look interested, any half decent team would be out of sight by HT , our ability to look better( perhaps not dominate) was as much because of how bad the opponents were .

I can understand the manager setting it up defensively against better sides but the lack of ambition against these two , and a Fulham side as home , I find it draining .

Fair enough mate. In my opinion. they were able to actually chase the game with options off the bench. Our bench is awful.

For me the clear indicator that the football has become so unpalatable and dour is that while watching games now at the pub I end inadvertently getting immersed in conversations about non footy matters while the game is on in the background at least till the second half where the stakes demand focus , even when the football hasn't exhilarating I've been attentive now I just grow further apathetic which is disconcerting

Again I agree , our squad isn’t the best but as a manager would you have kept that first half or tried to push your advantage? I’m not even talking about changes just a tweak. I find it so mad we didn’t step even slightly onto the front foot .

I view it as we did pretty much dominate and We should have won both games . Part of that is down to a failure in front of goal but a significantly larger part is a manager who went out not to lose .

We seem to be totally structured to not lose games and a lifetime of watching football , specifically Everton , has taught me teams doing that get caught out time after time .

Yeah the failure in front of goal is definitely an issue but for me it’s a tactical /management failure .

We should have won the Southampton match, think we were a bit unlucky in front of goal.

West Ham, we played well in the defensive and midfield thirds, but created very little in the final (despite our advantage in possession). I don't think Saturday's draw is down to finishing, it's down to generating very little in attack.

If we were playing the same style of football and winning 1-0 every week, then I wouldn’t care

The problem for me are the results

All he has are results

He can’t get by on exciting football, developing the younger players, having a dynamic personality, an exciting vision for football, creating a buzz around the club etc

So if he’s not getting results then he has nothing

Nah. I just realise that football is far more complicated than playing virtual games teaches you.

I totally get that sticking an extra striker on and doing 1-2s on FIFA has a really good rate of success but it’s not that simple in reality

Ah I see, another "can't make a point so resort to talking about video games" poster.

I’ve said this for a while.

Mathematical algorithms are not representative of real life.

other than £5mil per year before any bonuses

It’s nearly as boring as the blinded by the hatred of Dyche posters who can’t even look at things subjectively.

Imagine dyche had gone two up top and we lost. He’d be crucified on here.

so many posters on here can’t accept that the answer to Everton’s problems isn’t one thing. It isn’t just the sacking the manager. It isn’t just playing Beto.

It’s why a few people on here hold multiple, often competing opinions, on things like Dyche. They might not like his football or want him long term but also accept the current situation might lend itself to him just being the best of a bad bunch until the summer.

You’re happy to call me on the video games comment. Fair. But you reply to most posts that give any sort of rationale for an opinion that isn’t Anti-Dyche with comments like ‘so you never want to win a football match’. It’s tiresome.

I’ve been effectively trying to make this point for a while.

The squad is really, really bad. The manager is also probably not doing as well as he could do. Those two things can be happening at the same time….

Dyche isn’t the answer long term, may not even be short term but I don’t know how much more anyone is getting out of this squad of players. It’s really, really bad.
