2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Everyone likening Dyche to a dinosaur I think is really unfair...

Many species of dinosaur are believed by academic consensus to have been highly adept attackers, with exceptionally advanced team tactics, such as the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park.
Dyche would be an Ankylosauria, the herbivore covered in amour, great defence but toothless.

Just looking at some of our comparative XG figures.

Real, real concern.

I said at one stage last season they were high and goals and results would come and they did.

This season they are very low, very low - that is a concern.

Not sure what xg figures are, but my eyes tell me we play dreadful football so it stands to reason positive results don't tend to come from poor performances.

I could tolerate Dyche being a crap manager, what I can't stand is him blaming players and fans when things go wrong, never taking responsibility. He's like Klopp without any personality or 20 asthmatic players. It's no unreasonable to expect us, not to concede 3 goals in last few minutes. We have had winnable games, Moyes would of beat Leicester, beat Newcastle got at least 3 points in recent 2 fixtures. Teams now if they get 1st goal, we are screwed, they know we will sit back on a 1-0 lead instead of going to finish game.

Thats just not how it works though is it? I’m sure the aim is to get better but it’s just incredibly simplistic to say we finished 12th last year so that’s the minimum baseline for this year. If we’d gone and spent a load of money then yes of course but you can’t just shuffle the pack a bit like we did and say right go out and pull another rabbit out of the hat. It’s like people have forgotten the absolutely shambolic way the club has been operating and thought a magic wand has been waved because we didn’t get relegated.
Like i wrote in my post, i think this seasons squad IS stronger than last seasons. I assume there is LESS turmoil behind the scenes now, specially with the Friedkins saving our asses, than last season. I think everything points to the club being ran BETTER now than in a long time, even if it is being forced to by our current circumstances. So no, i dont see these as reasons for us to not improve or at least aim to, i think theyre the opposite. I think its an excuse used by the club to manage expectations, because they dont want supporters angry in the streets again, so better to tell them we’re gonna be crap and maybe deliver slightly better than we told them we would than have people be disappointed. I think anyone expecting us to battle for european football is being unresonable, but people aiming for 10-12 after last season would be absolutely understandable AND logical if the aim is to improve. We survived the point deductions and all the economical bs Mosh and Bill put us through, we should start seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Insted we’re being told we’re at the exact same spot we were last year, when anyone with eyes and internet can see thats not true based on the factors mentioned.
Ive thought all the Burnely comparisons made on here since he came were pretty goofy, but we are currently falling into the exact same pattern that got him fired from there. ‘We’re not losing often, so we must be doing well’. And thats clearly not true. You can get 1 point from every match through the season and still be in a relegation battle. Its a dumb mentallity to have for any non masochistic club. We are not Burnely. We are not even close to being Burnely. No distespect to them, but the clubs are barely compareable. He needs to do better and he needs to do it quick. He needs to actually be pragmatic, look at what hes doing and tweak it. Based on his winless august-run, he clearly doesnt do that. He shouldve understood something was off with his preseasons years ago, and tried to change things until he started to see better results, but he clearly hasnt. What is it, hes got 4 wins as a manager during august ever, something like that? How is it possible to not try to remedy that as a manager? I dont understand it.

It’s because we sold Onana and didn’t get any new attacking players in, isn’t it mate?

Like has been pointed out by the bobble he’s training methods are exactly the same as last season, nothing changes With this guy and the August thing is just embarrassing.

The dychette’s will say last season was a miracle, dyche did a phenomenal job, deserves a medal. But when it all goes pair shaped this season , that’s fine because we have a crap squad, everyone else in the league has spent money, we just overachieved last season

I think we miss Onana defending if im honest.

A lot of our goals have come down the central channell and there is a lot of space to get at us there.

Could be that coupled with Doucoure not playing as part of a three without the ball from 10. Maybe a mixture of both.

And like I said in my post, I think that’s an incredibly simplistic way of looking at things. The squad improvement thing is a circular argument but my opinion is that there’s very little difference year to year. We were lucky last year with injuries and this year we haven’t been, I think ignoring that type of thing is a bit daft but each to their own. I have no real interest in debating the merits of dyche, my point was more around the expectations of where we are, regardless of who the manager is.

Posting that this week. It wasnt brilliant but at least if you're knocking on the door you've a chance. we're not even going through the garden gate now in comparison.
Spurs away this season. We had 9 attempts and 1 shot on target.
Spurs away last season. We had 24 attempts and 8 on target.

Thats been most of the season. Its dropped dramatically.

That's the piece mate its the drop off, statically we are not as threatening comparably to last year (and we hardly set the world on fire then) and worrying comparably to the rest of the league.

Thats despite trying to change it up, with 2 in middle, a 10 and the introduction of Illy etc.

We've one less goal then at the same stage last season.

Its actually not so much the goal scoring number that concerns me its the relatively low XG comparably to others in the league and fixtures we have had.

Whatever changes we have tried to make haven't worked, in the first 11 and its unlikely to improve over the next block over the XG front.
