2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

No manager Everton could employ/who'd come the last 3-4 years, no.

[Edit] I mean, Ancelotti had a much better team than this and had us 10th.
I genuinely don’t understand where people think this group of players should be?!

It’s exactly what I would expect a 15-20th type squad to look like.

We overachieved big time last year and got lucky with injuries, the quality across the league also seems better this year.

I’ve got plenty of mates who support other prem sides and they genuinely wouldn’t bat an eyelid if we went down. It’s an abysmal group, how are people not grasping this?!

*I will also say - again - this is no defence of Dyche who I think could possibly be doing better/have us more positive. I just don’t think there’s much else this side is realistically capable of.

It’s actually quite staggering that the 21//22 team that Lampard took over had: Mina Allan Richarlison Gordon Iwobi Demarai Gray in it and then was strengthened in January by Mykolenko Patterson Van der Beek and Dele Alli joining.

Even though a lot of these players weren’t good enough at the time and some of their attitudes stank in that season, on pure player quality I’m taking

Mina> Tarkowski
Allan> anyone we have
Richarlison> Ndiaye
Gordon> Harrison
Iwobi > McNeil
Demarai Gray > Lindstrom

We’ve brought Branthwaite in and improved the attitude and professionalism of the squad that’s it, the player quality hasn’t gone up.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think Dyche is capable of equalling or surpassing last season’s total. It just means that people’s expectations have risen in line with what this squad did last season not aligned with the actual quality of the squad which is poorer than the one Lampard had in my view, although perhaps slightly better than the group Dyche inherited in January 23.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That isn't what you said. You said this:

But whoever comes in has us in the same place until we spend.
That is a comment that covers any and all Managers coming in to replace Dyche, not the last 3-4 years or who Everton could employ. You have no idea what Managers TFG are capable of bringing in. None of us do. They have a lot more nous and respectability than Moshiri and Kenwright ever did. What if they replaced him with say Mancini (as an example). You are saying he could not do any better than Dyche is doing with this squad.

It was a ridiculous comment to make.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Go on, I’ll bite.

Which part of the pitch?!

Every part of it. Branthwaite improves the defence immeasurably. Midfield is probably the same overall in terms of quality, I thought Allan was absolutely crap for us and he ended up going to Qatar or wherever so that probably proves as such. Also think Iwobi was diabolical for us and Ndiaye is an improvement. Richarlison left in June 2022 so he doesn’t really count, and Gordon downed tools and was trying to force a move.

Ancelotti wouldnt have us higher. He only got 10th with a decent squad and he’s arguably the greatest manager of our era.

Well, no.

TFG don't own the club yet.

I've acknowledged, as recently as just before in this in this thread that were in a completely different place with TFG/Bramley Moore. Elsewhere I've even mentioned the example you give in Mancini.

But we're not there.

Until then - I don't think any manager we can get has this team comfortably away from the bottom.

1. TFG aren't in charge yet.
2. That seems debatable at the moment, despite the obvious financial stability they bring.
