2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Not gonna go into this again as you're genuinely just parroting both of those points regardless of what anyone says anyway and you won't be swayed.

We've bought players for Dyche and the team is better than Lampard's, yet keeps breaking "worst ever" records yearly. That's not progress in itself, and he keeps bigging us up to go down regardless of players anyway.

It's weird how you weren't this defensive about Lampard, ever, but you'd die on this bog standard manager's hill, but you do you.

We've not spent money under Dyche.

I defended Lampard as much.

Because it's not about the manager - it's about the team not having the players able to score enough goals to keep us away from trouble.

I think Lampard had a better team because Richarlison, Iwobi, Gordon are better than what we have in the final third now.

My whole point and one I've made for years is this team are in trouble no matter the manager.

If we’ve progressed under Dyche then why is 17th and 36-40 points still the objective?

Dyches full season was 48 points.

That's a significant improvement on the seasons before him.

Hipsters talk Potter. He spent £100m and in 3 years never increased Brighton by as many points as that.

Because of the guy in your avatar mate.

We've been in a relegation scrap for years and averaged 41 points the last 3.

We've not spent a bean since.

Last season we did better than expected, and got lucky with injuries. But it's small margins.

So last season was basically a fluke? I’ll remember that next time someone tries to use it as an example of Dyche’s brilliance.

I think you've said this before, it's not accurate.

Here's me on 3rd Jan after we've just been battered at Goodison by Brighton.

We're all desperate for it to work out.

Comes across really well doesn't he?

A competitive Everton with him as manager would be great.

Besides, we can't keep sacking managers.

We have to hold our nerve, patience.

He gets a free pass this season, as long as it wasn't so bad that relegation felt almost inevitable.

But, it feels it to me now.

I honestly think he'll relegate us.

It's a results game, and his have been pretty terrible. This was boxing day;

I mean, Bournemouth beat us 7-1 over two games. Bournemouth.

He didn't keep us up last season, there was no upturn in form, his points per game are what they are now - Pickford, Richarlison and an insane Goodison kept us up.

I do feel for him as I've bored everyone since the summer - I think most managers would relegate us because we don't have the goals, or even the threat of goals in the team to make us competitive/keep us up. The club, the board, Kevin Thelwell - they've all let him and Everton down.

None of us know if he's a decent manager. He was the best out of a terrible bunch when we appointed him, but the gamble hasn't worked.

If he wasn't Frank Lampard, if he didn't have the profile he did, an he didn't come in after Benitez, he'd have been sacked by now.

If I'm Moshiri/Thelwell I'm on the phone begging Pochettino. If no luck, I'm swallowing pride I'm afraid and I look at Dyche for his experience and pragmatism alone.

It's about keeping the club in the league, and while Lampard isn't the biggest problem, both those names would increase the chances of keeping the club in the league which is what it's all about.

Last season was as good as this Everton team/Dyche will achieve. Yes.

12th-17th. That's Everton and the margins between those places are small.

If we fall below that we need to sack the manager.

Lose the next 2 home games - sack the manager.

But whoever comes in has us in the same place until we spend.

It’s actually quite staggering that the 21//22 team that Lampard took over had: Mina Allan Richarlison Gordon Iwobi Demarai Gray in it and then was strengthened in January by Mykolenko Patterson Van der Beek and Dele Alli joining.

Even though a lot of these players weren’t good enough at the time and some of their attitudes stank in that season, on pure player quality I’m taking

Mina> Tarkowski
Allan> anyone we have
Richarlison> Ndiaye
Gordon> Harrison
Iwobi > McNeil
Demarai Gray > Lindstrom

We’ve brought Branthwaite in and improved the attitude and professionalism of the squad that’s it, the player quality hasn’t gone up.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think Dyche is capable of equalling or surpassing last season’s total. It just means that people’s expectations have risen in line with what this squad did last season not aligned with the actual quality of the squad which is poorer than the one Lampard had in my view, although perhaps slightly better than the group Dyche inherited in January 23.

So what you are saying then is no other manager in the world could do better than what Dyche is doing with this squad.

Safe to assume that i wholeheartedly disagree with you.

No manager Everton could employ/who'd come the last 3-4 years, no.

[Edit] I mean, Ancelotti had a much better team than this and had us 10th.

There's plenty of good managers - whether they want to come and blemish their CV is another thing. Evertonians constantly lose their heads in times of trouble and within 18 months they want their next head.

It's what people continually forget.

Dyche himself on day one he was appointed acknowledged under usual circumstances he wouldn't be Everton manager.

Bielsa jibbed us and the shortlist was pitiful.

It would have been even worse of a shortlist after the headlines about point deduction and an owner who wanted off.

When we sacked Benitez it was just as bad. That fella crying it in on Sky Sports whose name I forget before we decided on Lampard.

We'll be in another world entirely under TFG/Bramley Moore thankfully.
