2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

that is gaslighting. He is telling us that what we see regarding his management has nothing to do with him and is all these other nefarious things and poor players that are to blame. He is telling us not to believe our own eyes nor trust our own judgement

He told us there’s no evidence that Ndiaye can play as a number 10 despite there literally being factual evidence of it, but this also isn’t gaslighting because I’ve added another little made up caveat to the definition so that it no longer fits.

Well I think you might be proven wrong on a few of them. I don't think Lindstrom will ever cut it as a number 10 in this league. All opinions though, one of us might be proven wrong at some point.

Tim clearly has ability, but still has a bit to learn for me. Was all over the show against Spurs for example.

Harrison is a fair one, I think he can get more out of him, but he looks low on confidence. Is that because he's not in his best postition? Could be.

And Patterson has had his chances now for me, as I said the other day...

How has he “had his chances”? I’m sorry, that’s nonsense. Has Michael Keane had his chances yet? What about DCL and Doucoure? 4 games is not “a chance” especially when he wasn’t any worse than his competition in those games.

Anyway, we’re about to find out the answer to all of these questions in the coming weeks when this stain on the football club is finally disposed of.

How can anyone keep making excuses for this fella.

He took over with us looking disjointed, low on confidence and in a relegation battle

22 months later we look disjointed low on confidence and are in a relegation battle.

Is there anything he has improved?

An half decent managers keeps you out of danger for most of the season
A decent or good manager keeps you floating around 11th-13th position
Every manager should improve the team from where he took over, he hasnt.

Give this squad of players to 19 current PL managers and move away from where we are.
Yeah mate, we now have a 0.91ppg. Which is the best we should hope for.

If he starts changing his tune and says now that those comments were taken out of context, and he wanted Ndiaye at number 10, which is the reason why we didn't win on Saturday, and it wasn't his fault because it was out of his control... Or something along those lines, then I'd definitely agree.

Also, it's an attempt at gaslighting, because in order for it to be classified as gaslighting, it has to cause cognitive dissonance. At this point, every blind man and his seeing eye dog can see how full of BS Dyche is!

Gasdyching - a form of psychological abuse or manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim's mind. Typically, gasdychers are seeking to gain power and control over the other person, by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition.

I don't think he's just not accepting responsibility though. I genuinely think he is trying to convince people that he'd be great if it weren't for the players, the club, the weather, the decor, the canteen and the sport itself. I believe him
One day he will tell us all how difficult it has been for him managing a well supported club, with low expectations and on a huge wage. I for one will definitely be pre-ordering that book and waiting with bated breath for its release.
But the key is that I think he believes it. I don’t think he’s trying to pull the wool over our eyes, I think he’s in a job that’s bigger than anything he’s ever done or thought he would do, and he’s struggling. He genuinely thinks he’s got it tough, and so he keeps saying it, because he doesn’t want people to think he’s failing he wants them to see it from his angle - that it’s just a really difficult job. As it happens I sort of agree with him, I think he has got a tough job both to get results and to deal with a fan base that hasn’t quite got its head round our current place in the order. That being said, he’s currently not doing well enough, and his combative nature in press conferences isn’t going to endear him to people, so I don’t have that much sympathy for him.

There’s a few on here that still can’t see it, which is why it qualifies as gaslighting for me.

4 games? I think you should read what I wrote again, because he's had more of a chance than 4 games....

Yeah, this is just speculation. For me, Patterson has had chances under Dyche and just not taken them.

In Dyche's first season (18 games) he started Patterson in 4 games, though Coleman was available (and started) for 11 games. Interestingly, he started 4 of the last 5 and only missed the last game through injury. Last season he started every game before being dropped for our first win of the season against Brentford. He was then used as a sub in a further 5 matches before coming back in to the team for the consecutive defeats to Spurs, City and Wolves. Wolves 3-0 was basically the last time we seen him. What did he do during that time that makes you think he took his chance? He's also since had a 7 month absence with injury.

He's been rubbish.

I suppose it does come down to his belief when it comes to gaslighting or not. You could be right. If that's the case then his lack of self awareness or self introspection makes him a poor leader imo and only supports the Dyche out viewpoint.
On the other hand, if he is deliberately lowering expectations and insulting players in order to match his own ability knowingly then he's an a$$ whole as well as still needing to be booted.
2 + 2 = Dycheout Q.E.D

You'd think Dyche has the self awareness at this point to see the writing is on the wall.

The next games are basically a final roll of the dice for him.

He has nothing to lose...will he go for it?
More than a couple of the Local and national media seem to see what’s going on and are sharpening their knives . once that happens history tells us it’s when and not if .

I’ve seen Coleman and Young have worse games than any of those you’ve quoted there. On multiple, multiple occasions.

Maybe you have, but I'm pretty sure they're not every time they start. He's been rubbish whenever he's had a chance. The spot is there for the taking and he hasn't grabbed it. He's done here mate, imo. Will end up back at Rangers.
