2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

We've seen glimpses of it recently too though. This is where I struggle with much of the criticism, loads of people seem to be making out like it's got worse, but they were saying the same things almost from the second he took over. Some people just didn't want him and have been critical of almost everything he did right from the off. Again, this isn't even meant as a defence of him, glimpses aren't enough and serving up the football we have in the last 2 home games is just not acceptable for me, but in the main I don't really think there's been much difference in performances from season to season, it's more just a case of sometimes it's enough to get you a result and sometimes it isn't. That's how it goes when you're a below average side.
It has got worse, we battered teams at the start of last season but didn't get results, bournmouth the one home game I can truly say we deserved to win

I’d be surprised if he makes it through the final goodison derby to be honest. Dread to think what the atmosphere will be like if we lose the next two going into that.

I disagree with that. It's a derby, the crowd will be behind the team whoever is in charge. It might turn in the game if we get properly turned over a la the Benitez one but I doubt it will be as bad as that. Both in terms of atmosphere and scoreline.

Obviously, the build up will be a bit more psychotic online but it always is.

We know the squad needs improving but do you honestly think that the squad is getting maximized by Dyche?

Can each player not do better with the quality they have?

Can the team not function better wit this current squad?

The answer is yes they can as we've seen it in the players and the team (2 or 3 games a season were we play very well) , the problem is he cant get consistency from either due to his style and tactics.

Its the same with UTD now watch them fly up the league now they have a competent manager with the same players.

The difference is that United’s players are a lot better than ours. A lot. People can say they’re crap but they’re individually not. They have a huge upside that a manager could unlock.

I don’t think these players do. They can play a bit better than they are at the moment as we saw last season but the other thing about poor players is they’re inconsistent. They’ll give you a performance one week then be terrible the next.

So I think we could have played better this season absolutely but I don’t think that there’s a huge improvement waiting to be unlocked from these players I genuinely don’t, not consistently at least, there might be a bounce here and there but they’ll fall back to a bottom half mean because the sure very average to poor prem players.

No im confused because you originally said counter attacking football is what you wanted but then criticised Dyche for being unable to play with the ball?
I criticised the way we counter? Is that not allowed? I’m under no illusion we’re better suited to being a counter attacking side, I just think we’ve been found out in most games this season,

Last season we also lost to Luton at home who went down because they were too attacking.
Ye and we also beat Liverpool for the first time in 12 years at goodison, beat Newcastle 3-0, beat Chelsea 2-0, had a good comeback against Spurs and won more away games than years before. So I suppose it's just about perspective mate. For me, that's a better time being a fan than everything that came before. You probably believe those results happened in spite of Dyche.

Things have looked really grim over the past few years and I've been in utter despair about Everton. But generally have felt safer with Dyche as manager than everything post Carlo.

There's definitely an issue with his contract running out now, and if Friedkin can spend in January I'd have no problem starting fresh 👍

If those results happened because of Dyche then it shouldn’t be a problem repeating them I suppose. Thank god for that, looking at our upcoming fixtures. We’re already down on the Newcastle result, when they didn’t have a striker, but I’m holding out hope for those Liverpool and Chelsea games now you’ve mentioned that. Don’t let us down Sean.

But picking random games to compare doesn't really work as a proper comparison does it? We had some games where we were unlucky not to score/score more early last season I agree but it's not true that we were turning up every week battering teams. 'Deserving' to win is a difficult one to quantify I think, like on saturday you couldn't say a draw was a travesty by any means, but if we'd won 1-0 you couldn't say it was undeserved either. We had 27 shots, there's valid criticism that we aren't creative enough, that we need to work out ways to break teams down and get key players into better positions etc, but the constant 'we weren't even trying to win' type stuff is just daft - you don't have 27 shots if you're not trying to win, that's fairly obvious.
