…..delighted for him and even more so for us. Plenty of players hitting the box (I counted 4 when Mykolenko had the ball in open play in the 2nd half), no isolated striker.

He still lacks quality at his disposal, though, and had to rely on set pieces again for goals. Broja looks a decent addition & hopefully provides more threat but we saw what happened when he set Harrison up twice.

As will I, mate. Just saying, everything went our way that could have and it’s almost certainly an outlier.
Oh totally, and everyone knows that. Thats why it’s only our 3rd win this season and our only win in 6 games. Because it’s rare that those chances come off. it isn’t sustainable or a consistent way to win games

Even the contrarians in here trying to goad their supposedly fellow fans know that.

I agree, we can’t afford to give them time. Press them high and go after them. Get the crowd onside and rattle them.
Cant help but think that the times weve used a high press its been nice to watch...

...typically though very poor.

The better we are to watch, the more pts we seem to get. Dyche hasnt noticed.

Hopefully we go after liverpool and surprise t

It's a vicious circle. I know we don't have great quality, but anyone we do have capable of playing the ball on the deck is no good in Dyche's team. Once we get a new manager I'll think you'll find an improvement in the football from the existing players as well as us getting in some better footballers.

….hopefully, but let’s not forget Dyche doesn’t bring in new players. Whoever replaces Dyche will face the same issues regarding quality.

So just to clarify; we are capable of playing high intensity and on the front foot

Because for the past 8 weeks we’ve been told that the players can’t do that??
I think we definitely need to play like that in most home games. It won't always work but there is enough there to get over 40 points and relatively comfortable safety.

The team is much better balanced with Mangala in midfield. He needs to play regularly, especially until Garner is fit again.

High press is the only way this team can survive and the only way this team can produce decent amount of chances.

We all know you hate Thelwell, but as I've said before it's difficult to know if he's done a decent job with our 19th century manager. I can see a world in which Chermiti, N'Diaye, Patterson, O'Brien etc play in a decent attacking team that keeps the ball on the deck and presses from the front. But not with this manager.

I think this point sometimes gets a bit confused to be honest. Personally I have absolutely no doubt that the players we have could play 'better' football - they're professionals who've made it to the top level, I don't think they literally can't pass the ball along the ground or whatever. The question is whether playing better football with these players would lead to better results, and that's what I'm not sure on. I can see why we do some of the things we do, I think it's possible (not definite, just possible) that we get more points over the course of a season playing the way we do than if we try to play more football and be more open. Hopefully the takeover means we never have to find out because we can get better players to go with a better manager.

I agree. I think he's signed some good players but with Dyche you won't ever unlock their full potential.

So why do we keep being told we are only good enough for relegation fodder……
You are arguing that our team is better than the form?

I would argue that it's 50-50 whether anyone would come in and do better with the current resources, and any decline would be costly. I would also argue given more resources I wouldn't want Dyche in charge.
Why have you gone from match day 4 to 14? Do the first 3 games not exist in this reality or something. Wouldn't be to make our form look better than it really is now would it because if you add the first 3 games it goes to 15th which is where we are.

The lengths some people go to to make Dyche seem better is ridiculous, just say it as it is. No need to cherry pick. Everyone is made up to get 3 points last night but sooner or later you are going to have to face up to the reality that TFG will be replacing him when they get in. Its a no brainer.
I mean that's how form tables work?

We did do that last year when we played we had a decent run after the points deduction and played some decent football up until the wolves game. I actually think with Mangala in the team, Broja and Chermeti returning to fitness and Tim and James Garner coming back we have a better options than last year. There are some holes in the squad and we all know where they are but whoever come in to manage us has platform with this group of players.
