2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Is this not a case for Dyche also? Albeit a different style? He just wont look to move from the one way he knows

Yeah, I don't really understand that argument. Perhaps Dyche and a guy like Allardyce seem more pragmatic and so it's not perceived as vain, but they are the same in that they're stubborn in ways that are often detrimental to the team.

The difference is that Dyches style does get pts. Albeit 1 per game but it's more than Russels.

I always use the example of Brentford, Frank is a good coach because they did play possession based in the championship, but he swapped his style to keep them in the PL.

….i think he’s ultra pragmatic given the players his disposal. He thinks what’s the best I can do with this lot.

I thought Dyche was outstanding last season given the squad, the ownership situation and points deductions. My hope this season was ‘he’d move away from the one way he knows’ but he hasn’t. Saying that, he’s lost a regular in Onana and hasn’t been given much with summer signings, with the exception of Ndiaye who he’s always selecting.

His contract is almost up, he’ll know the club are interviewing possible replacements so I don’t think we’ll ever know if he’d have a different approach working with a better DOF. Contract limbo is not good for us, Dyche should be moved on.

Well, to understand, look where Kompany is now.

These managers do this because they are careerists putting their brands ahead of the club that employs them. Kompany struck gold by doing this - much to everyone's surprise (probably because Bayern are in a very peculiar transition period). But he also had a name as a players, so what worked for him is now really likely to work for pound-shop Kompanys like Martin.
In fairness to the likes of Dyche and Kompany, they came up to the PL playing a certain way and had recruited players based on that style, presumably with buy-in on that strategy from their club hierarchies - I know Saints in particular have had a club strategy of playing that type of football, which is why they've recruited backroom staff members from City. Not easy to completely tear that up upon arrival in the prem and play a completely different style.

Watching the reaction after the game it's obvious that he still has the support of the team. I felt like the team selection was bang on and that we're starting to see Branthewaite come back into form.

I do wonder if our struggles upfront are more an issue with confidence as opposed to an issue of skill.

His contract is up at the end of the season, and we don't look like a team circling the drain of relegation. If that changes we need a change, but I'd be perfectly fine with him remaining and then re-evaluate things in the summer with the new chairman.
How can you honestly say we don’t look like a team not circling relegation?

For me we have players that we shouldn’t be near it, but it’s down to style, tactics, substitutions, playing players week in week out offering nothing why we look so poor.

Last night was a welcoming 3 points and much needed but it certainly won’t change the fact that we need rid of this fella ASAP.

The ability of this manager tells me another winless run is on the cards very soon because that’s what he does.

The law of averages say his style will work against someone, last night it worked.

I know a few Burnley fans very well and they said l, Dyche never changed in the way he did things, always brought subs on with 15 mins to go not earlier, always like for like.
They also said when he did have money to spend it was tried and tested players that were older, not young upcoming players.

So to me what we see now is what we will always see with Dyche

….so I assume Burnley don’t have the DOF system and the Manager is responsible for identifying and bringing players in. Old style and different to most clubs these days.

He's 53, managed over 400 games and has never once changed his methods or ideology

Why do you think he would automatically change his approach with money?? You do not need money to change your approach to games

But then again, when the man said our strikers do not need a specialised coach because his old friend John Robertson, who last kicked a ball almost 40 years ago, told him so then that tells you the mentality of the man right there
