2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

My sentence literally said their defense was rubbish but credit to him for setting up to take advantage of that!

Yeah, fair enough. I've seen several examples of that type of sentence used and this was just the latest. I've even seen people going on about the fact they had a midfielder in defence, when if that was Dyche they'd be telling him to do his job and deal with what he's got. It's not like he's never had squad issues here.

Never really meant to single you out in particular mate, it was just a general observation.

Agree first sentence.

But think this nails it;

We can't have a situation where manager and players know it's short term - it doesn't work. Small margins down there and that goes against us.
I disagree with this. Even if the manager is leaving he needs to show he deserves a job somewhere else, and the players need to show they're either worthy of a new club, a new contract or a start under the new manager.

They weren't great, but there will be matches this season when we again are rubbish, it's the life of a bottom half team. 2 defeats in the last 10 and 14 points earned. We're looking alright, though not great.

Also, now we've got Old Trafford out of the way and we've got a 5 point cushion, all of a sudden the December 'horror run' doesn't look quite as daunting.
Apologies I was not clear.

Wolves defence were absolutely rubbish was what I was saying.

🙏

Doesn't work mate.

Only have to look at West Ham in the run in with Moyes.

Or even Leicester when they went down with key players who all knew they were leaving due to contract.

Human nature.

I think our players are more professional than that. Also the fans will demand it . I take your point but they're highly paid professionals so do your job.

I agree with most of that but it's not a binary choice between tiki taka and hoofball.

Russell Martin is this years Vincent Kompany , I will never understand a manager who puts his own football vanity before the success of their team.

However he and football managers of his type don't have to do a complete turn and go all Tony Pulis , Sam Allardyce and dare I say it Sean Dyche and imitate Wimbledon of the 80s.

You can be solid at the back , cut out the ridiculous passing around in your own third and still play decent football .
The weird thing is, at the start of last season, under Sean Dyche, we actually played some decent football. It wasn't matched with results and we had that long winless spell where Dyche reverted to type. I actually wasn't worried about the poor results as much as I have been this season back then because I could see what he was trying to do. But he bottled it, he went back to his grind it out philosophy and hasn't looked back since. That spell and the random matches like last night show, definitively in my opinion, that this squad is capable of more than he's routinely getting out of them. That's why I find him so maddening. That and the nose picking. And the David Brentish press conferences. And his face.

People take up positions and cant be seen to reassess...worried they'd look like they're losing face on a footy forum. 🤷‍♂️
Lol. David you argue every point so far into the ground that it pops up in New Zealand. You never change your view on anything. You are the forums ultimate didact. Your post is the most hilarious lack of self awareness I've seen on this site and that is saying something.

One other thing to bear in mind: the new stadium could be a danger to us next season if there's not significant strengthening to this squad. That's not going to feel like playing at home for a few seasons and that could land us in trouble if TFG dont hire the right man.

New stadium + new owners + new manager could = chaos.

Wall, sewerage works, windmills, lights, Dan "ball bag" Meis, TFG. The stadium has so little going for it, eh Dave?

Your joking aren't you John. The 5 point cushion is definitely welcome but December is still absolutely terrifying.

RS at home, Arsenal away, Chelsea home, City away. Some run that is.

Hopefully there's still a good few who it may well matter to. Tarkowski and Pickford for a start. Do they really want to move? They're probably not getting a premier league role at another North West club. Branthwaite? Well, some might say he's gonna be off anyway? Well yeah, probably. What happens if he breaks his leg or does his ACL in April or something? If he's got anything about him he'll be doing everything to ensure he's a Premier League player next season, because he's an Everton player until he isn't.

There's others too and the likes of Gueye and Coleman will be demanding you feel. Speaking of Gueye, things would look a bit brighter if we could get him to extend for another year. One less hole to plug and I think he's good for it.

Well everybody was happy to include Old Trafford in the horror run a short while back, so it's defo a shorter 'horror run' now. No reason we can't get 3 or 4 points from the home games. Not that I'd put big money on it like.
