2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The weird thing is, at the start of last season, under Sean Dyche, we actually played some decent football. It wasn't matched with results and we had that long winless spell where Dyche reverted to type. I actually wasn't worried about the poor results as much as I have been this season back then because I could see what he was trying to do. But he bottled it, he went back to his grind it out philosophy and hasn't looked back since. That spell and the random matches like last night show, definitively in my opinion, that this squad is capable of more than he's routinely getting out of them. That's why I find him so maddening. That and the nose picking. And the David Brentish press conferences. And his face.

Jep absolutely, I remember home games against Chelsea, Newcastle and Bournemouth from August till December that were pretty solid and made me curious for more and gave hope. We played pretty good direct football and pressing there.

Well everybody was happy to include Old Trafford in the horror run a short while back, so it's defo a shorter 'horror run' now. No reason we can't get 3 or 4 points from the home games. Not that I'd put big money on it like.
And we all know how Old Trafford went. Shorter but still just as daunting. I am expecting no points at all but hope we get a few to keep us out of the relegation zone.

Hopefully there's still a good few who it may well matter to. Tarkowski and Pickford for a start. Do they really want to move? They're probably not getting a premier league role at another North West club. Branthwaite? Well, some might say he's gonna be off anyway? Well yeah, probably. What happens if he breaks his leg or does his ACL in April or something? If he's got anything about him he'll be doing everything to ensure he's a Premier League player next season, because he's an Everton player until he isn't.

There's others too and the likes of Gueye and Coleman will be demanding you feel. Speaking of Gueye, things would look a bit brighter if we could get him to extend for another year. One less hole to plug and I think he's good for it.

It came in fits and spurts. First few matches we were creating a bunch of chances and were not converting.

Decent December. Maybe some good stuff towards the end. Lots of long spells of what we are seeing now.

Overall I agree it was better last season. But I don't think it's been a dramatic shift.

Petty as well as a condescending, aren't you.
You mean because I liked a couple of your posts from this week where you’d said ‘you’re not the sharpest tool in the box’ and ‘do you realise how dumb that is’ after calling me condescending I assume? Glass houses and all that.

I don’t really apologise for being condescending to someone effectively saying ‘ah well if we’d stopped existing who cares’ to be honest, but if you don’t like my posts just ignore me, i reckon I’ll get over it eventually.

Well, we got absolutely belted at Old Trafford, so it's inclusion seems justified. Doesn't make me feel any better about the next four games. The Wolves result does, a bit, but we're in a different world against the next four.

I hope you are right mate. Any points will be a bonus out of that run with how poor we have been this season.

It would be a bonus and important to compensate the games we should have gotten out with more.

But tbf these are the best 4 teams in the country atm.

Chelsea this year is another level sadly to last year when we won vs them. We beat RS last year, they came with 23p and 1 defeat in the last season.

The intensity at the first half in the old Trafford was good, also vs Wolves, but our team is fragile.

I think our players are more professional than that. Also the fans will demand it . I take your point but they're highly paid professionals so do your job.
There are lots of examples of player performance dropping off when it’s known a manager is leaving at the end of the season. Add that to the fact that half of our starting 11 last night are out of contract at the end of the season, leaves a lot of instability. The Friedkin’s either need to decide to give Dyche a new contract (highly unlikely and unwanted) or bring in a new manager to add some stability and allow planning to start for next season.

I'm hoping we can be better than that mate. The manager takes responsibility for all results of course, but I'm not sure the 4-0 defeat can be placed solely at his door. It's certainly not typical of a Dyche team to as good as gift the opposition 2 goals. I'm not saying he doesn't take responsibility, just that the players have to take some too. For the scoreline if not the result.

Besides I didn't say it's not daunting, just not quite as daunting, especially now with a 5 point cushion. It's still gonna be tough and we will certainly need to be better than we were at united, but I'm hopeful that's about as bad as we'll see under this manager and I'm not expecting regular collapses like that. We've not seen it under him yet...

The problem remains that webe been here before a million times. One swallow does not make a summer. We have our one win and we should be satisfied. They will fold against a decent team.
