2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

My point wasnt how good, bad, fit, unfit, ready O'Brien was/is,
My point is that his lack of first team appearances might put others off joining the club.
I doubt Evan Ferguson would give the club a second thought. (again, not debating how good/bad/suitable ferguson would be).
I think Dyche has a lot to do with that.
Or, if you're in any way better than any of the starting XI, you'll back yourself to be picked to start. We should have no problem recruiting pacy wingers, any semi decent striker, or a competent full back, for example. They'll see us play and know they'll walk into the team, like Ndiaye

Can you quote the posts where you perceive fans to be defending him please? It might be that those posters on this forum a) aren't actually supporters, they just make it a full time job to post on an Everton forum b) You're misunderstanding their position and they don't defend Dyche but they merely tolerate him.

B) Perhaps, so.

But then, there's a strange level of debate going on in this thread in general terms, if we are all in unanimous agreement.

You’re right it was. Didn’t he score the winner vs Blackburn in the following seasons charity shield?

That's absolutely my memory of it mate - the charity shield being Samways first game.

Weirdly checking most of the stat sites online have him coming in the season before the Cup final - absolutely no memory of that or him being in that squad................

Maybe it was just his first goal I remember - online says he was part of the FA Cup final squad, but weirdly I don’t recall that at all….i am getting on like 😄

Me too mate:lol: - i defo thought he was part of the new recruits the summer after the cup final win in 95 and the Charity Shield was his first game......maybe other lids will come along and give us their recollection?

Why can’t we get out of this stupid PL experience or ex Everton

Why would we want Rooney? He’s a crap manager
Why would we want Dunc, he’s a crap manager

There thousands of managers out there

Exactly my thoughts, and I had posts about that. My point was about identification.

If there was a manager out there that with Everton past and was a good manager, then fair enough. Carsley comes closest, but I have none that really convinces me. But as I said Rooney for me is a worse manager than Dyche. And he had his chance in a few clubs now.

Three of the best managers in the league are born in my region that is less populated than Liverpool Urban area. Unai, Andoni, Arteta. Also Lopetegui or Alonso come from here. I suggested some names that I think could move a club forward, and also speak English, which I say is a criterium for me.

I want a manager that has experience in a good league, maybe build up a good team before and implemented philosophy. Well yeah, there are examples like Arteta or Maresca that were assistants before only and became good managers, but there are also many examples of assistants of a world class manager that failed to become a good manager themselves.

My guess is it wasn’t 20m down straight away. Possibly due to the link with guy that owned Lyon at at the time.
Most of our signings have been based on getting long payment terms from what have read for financial reasons which has restricted our options.

Jep, you might be right about that, we have the same with Beto I know, and I believe even Chermiti.

paid a fair price, but in fact we don‘t have a use for him as of now, seems like wasted money for a relative low budget we had.. 20m spent that bring in a full back or another winger or Ndiaye type
We've been fortunate that we haven't needed him to be fair. A club needs four centre backs at a minimum in their squad - his time will come and he'll be more than ready to step in when Keane leaves in the summer.

To be honest we were probably worried brathwaite might demand a transfer and leave us with no cover. If someone met the valuation he would have gone.

Jep, I see the sense and logic of getting him now from sportive view. Keane very likely leaves this summer, Tarks has found his form back since Branthwaite has come back, but is getting towards his mid 30s. Branthwaite might look for a bigger club. Holgate isn't good enough and leaves as well.

The question is did it make sense financially, we hadn't enough money to cover all areas, as he seems to be option 4 now at CB.

Mike Walker signed Samways. Royle came in and didn’t fancy him so played the ‘dogs of war’ trio instead.
