2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I grew up in rural Alabama, USA - just about the least soccer interested place you'd want to find (using the term to differentiate from American football, which is what almost all the kids were just waiting to get old enough / big enough to play), but just enough interest had started to spring up post-World Cup 94 to get things going.

Anyway, I'm 40 years old now. 30 years ago, when I was a youngster playing on those fields of my tiny little town, being managed by some random teammate's dad who might have only had a slight inkling of what this game even was, the tactics we were generally given were this: put the biggest kids at CB, if / when the ball gets anywhere near them, they were to run up and kick it as hard as they possibly could to the other end of the pitch, whereupon everybody else would try to chase it down, and maybe, if we were really, really lucky, someone could manage to kick it in the general direction of the opposing goal. We virtually never won a game, you won't be surprised to hear.

Now 30 years later, I'm spending my Sunday morning watching a grown man getting paid millions of pounds per year to have his players do the exact same thing. Unbelievable.

They have improved massively, but they aren’t Brazil, or even the mighty Leeds. They surrender possession and counter. It’s basic stuff, and if they stop winning, they will scream for the manager out because ugly football has to be winning football. They have a striker few teams would touch who is performing better than anyone in the country, bit of pace out wide, and MGW who I think is a fantastic if very annoying footballer. Lost their best CB in the warmup, and made zero difference due to depth, even if they aren’t all household names.

They might not have the big names, but they have some very good players, and pace. 2nd place is rediculous, but expecting anything other than a very tough game today was naive.

I think partly a great job by Nuno, but also a terrible job by Cooper, who’s arse was put out of joint by being told he had 736284 players to organise in training, none of whom he was consulted on.
Yep agree with all of that - I also think that they are having the season of their dreams which happen very so often when anything that can go right does nevertheless it’s still a solid improvement from one season to the next

If it’s not done in the next week or so which I find unlikely it will be, then we might as well give him the season and hit the hard reset in the summer.

I can’t see any big squad changes being made in Jan, and no manager worth having would be willing to come the way things stand right now.

A career PL record to die for.

It’s the clubs fault for agreeing to pay him that kind of salary.

When he leaves , the level of gaslighting will take on new levels

I can just imagine “Carra laa” on the Overlap

“Wha do the fans want, you hound all these managers out and he was doing a great job”

The stone henge headed meff would lose his mind if Dyche was churning out that kind of performance for Liverpool.
Critical now the Friedkins ignore the media narrative. The media sees us as plucky, staid emblems of a bygone era. We should know our place and accept the game has moved on without us. Our role was to preserve the local entrepreneur as owner model and be grateful for it. We were to be the soul in a soulless game - but we were to give up any pretence of competitiveness. So while they could fawn over the Sky Six and feel dirty about it, we could remind them of tradition, Englishness, and…hopelessness.

The Friedkins need to realise that the media will praise them for remaining a PL club and nothing else. Also-rans in a nice stadium for the Euros.

Sack and sell! Then hire and buy. All around them.
