2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

There has been an enormous regression between how we've played this year compared with last year

At times last year, the issue was abysmal finishing and missing lots of clear cut chances. This season, we can barely create a chance and the tactics from the manager mean that we won't create chances because no one is going forward. We have had about 6 shots on target in 5 games. Pickford makes more saves than that pretty much every game.

I have never supported the way Dyche played but at times last year there was some purpose to what we tried to do, and it was effective at times. This season the football has been significantly worse and it's not effective at all. I have no idea at all what he is trying to do.

And at the end of the day, it's still a results business. 3 wins in half a season is unacceptable under any manager with any style of play. But add in the unwatchable football and the lack of any plan, and it makes absolutely no sense to retain him as manager. I will never accept any Everton manager who goes onto a football field with no plan how to score a goal, never mind win a football match.

There is no way that a new manager comes in and does worse. This is the most unwatchable top flight football I've ever seen and it's broke me to the point I can't and refuse to watch it anymore.

Last season we never looked like Burnley 2022.
Regression is right. We've looked like his Burnley side that were nosediving towards the championship all of this season.
Pull the plug.

My conern is that the players were give or take worse before he arrived mate. I think they are limited bunch overall, i dont see much potential to be unlocked if im honest.

I think your right, but I think there's certain games where we can have a far more aggressive attitude in how we are set up, how we play and in turn the % of winning the odd game increases.

If Ndiaye is working 20 yards away from the opposition box, instead of 30 yards away from his own, I think we'll see chances created. Maybe go 3 at the back and bring O'Brien into the fold, play 2 up top.

After such a limp display against Forest where he blamed the whole team not doing what he asked, he basically sent out the same side from the 2nd half against Bournemouth. That just screamed of again saying "yep same again lads".

I'm not saying he has an abundance of options and I think the squad is full of crap. But he's continuing to play players who are having a massive detrimental effect and it really does look like he sets up regardless of opposition to just shut up shop and try and win off a set piece.

I just don't think that's acceptable for another 19 games and I don't think we'll get enough wins under this current style and current manager

So, it is a risk? Yep. More it's more of a risk if we keep a manager who simply looks like he's completely checked out already and doesn't seem to have strong characters around him who are willing to tell him its simply not working, whatever it is he thinks he's trying to do.

I'm a big fan of that type of football when the alternatives last season was relegation tbh.

As has been stated many times, Dyche is a symptom of where we were/are.

The strongest part of our squad is the CB and GK, use this to your strength. But it mustn't be at the total cost of the attack, as it is really this season and as stats proved we have regressed in so many offensive parts.

Have you ever been constipated for several days? You’re getting to the point where it’s starting to physically hurt, you’re lethargic, you can’t sleep, you’re just living life in agony thinking only about releasing the lead weight that you’re dragging around with you. And then finally one day you sit down on the throne, and unload the biggest, heaviest, most monstrous kraken (with some additional pain involved), turn around and press the flush button and it’s gone forever. The plague on your existence has been let go and you’ll never see it ever again. The sheer relief is so palpable that you sit quietly for a few moments and allow a little smile to yourself. You can go back to living your normal life, everything suddenly feels that little bit better.

Well, that.
You’re not eating enough fibre…

Sensible, coherent, logical.

Thank You.

My advice is to be careful what you wish for.

There's no way you can guarantee we get a manager in who can cope as well as Dyche has here for 2 years operating under the strain he's endured.

I would put it at 90% Dyche gets th required points to keep us up.

We are tough to beat and dont go on long losing streaks.

If these owners are wobbling on Dyche they better have around £50M/£60M to spend on players this window...and they better have a Plan B if that change goes disastrously wrong...which it stands a good chance of doing.

Dyche = safety
A.N.Other manager = risk
I wish I hadn't to say this. Going into the season, I said to repeat last season as a realistic target.

We have to declare survival as a main target now, because we've been underperforming and not because the team is really that bad to be in such a worrying state and a team winning 17 points in the first half of the season has to face this reality.

........."Ideally, what the Friedkin Group wanted to do was get through to the end of the season and have a period of stability after completing that takeover, and then make an assessment and judgment as to the way forward.
.........
I personally would be really comforted by this report if its indeed true. Its wild to be a Dyche apologist but I do so really in the argument of in what context do we best find his replacement as that is all but guaranteed. Bournemouth and Forest are better than us, have more talent on the pitch at this current stage. I think the season as a whole yes has been underwhelming to expectations of last years point tally removed the deduction.

But to me it comes down to two simple questions. One, are we likely be clear of relegation if Dyche stays, and two does more time with him afford a better hiring process for his replacement. Simply put I think the answers yes on both those.

I think the benefits of being able to clear house simultaneously with the roster and stadium switch, while TFG has gotten the lay of the land for 5 or so months is insurmountable. I think it gives us a way better pitch to possible managers and DoF's. all that points to riding this out.
