2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

More than that for me is there is a clear instruction not to support the striker. We literally never commit more than 1 in the box, unless it’s a corner.

Then you have the likes of Harrison and co being asked to cut inside, rather than whip it in, when in the odd occasion we have an attack with more than one on the box.

I get the style of football to a point. I have seen us struggle to make a 5 yard pass on too many occasions but not trying to commit any support to the striker is just criminal.

Doucoure does but again, he's hopeless on the ball. Last season it paid off for him with goals when he got in the box, this season it's not.

But I agree out wide, none of them get near the attack as they're more in support of the defence. But that's where pace comes into it.

As you saw with Forest last night. Compact and men behind the ball...rapid wide players on a counter. A technical player in the 10. And a finisher who can hold the ball up.

Our set up is similar. The quality of player IMO isn't.

The next question would then be who do you bring in and what style could this squad play as it is?

But there's also the element of players not being good on the ball and or wanting it. No one asking for it regardless of it the instruction are to punt it.
At which point do we concede that those are the instructions - to punt it?

Onana for Belgium and now Villa plays the same position, but has the ball in his feet, finds passes, is much calmer, no rush to hoof. Wonder why that is?
Last year he recycled possession a few times but it seemed like that was not according to the plan so that was quickly stopped and back to route 1 to DCL

Fans piling on pressure on Giulia to make sure she asks if Sean is aware of the widespread anger at his continuous employment.

She knows and she will. She really is a good reporter but she knows as an employee of the BBC she can't directly call him a clueless bell. I bet she wants to though.
Would be boss if she started her questions with "alright, ya ginger prick. Why are you still here?"

I'm not 100% confident she will, though.

Point 2 is related to point 1. Whipping the ball in early when there's only one man in the box would be futile most of the time.

Agree with point 3 though. Team should be coached to attack as a team - even if it's only groups of 3 players at a time depending on where we have possession, and how the opposition defence is set up in that instance, with the rest in a suitable structure if the attack breaks down.
It's not even counter-attacking football (as we don't have the pace in the team for that), but just having some attacking patterns worked out on the training ground.

Nah , she's so far up Dyche it isn't true

She will be the most popular reporter in the job queue.
She's the best we are going to get when it comes to hard ball questions. Her " you've been here two years " was classic.

Is Prentice still employed by the club?

For one he's playing in a better team - he's got Tilimans next to him. And you have to admit, recycling the ball only to then play it to Doucoure or Harrison who statistically lose the ball more than anyone in the side, there's missing pieces to a puzzle.

Yes it's direct and instructed to be that. All I'm saying is, new manager comes in...you'll still have the same issue of players not being good on the ball in key areas.

Explains it all.

I am glad that someone on mainstream tv is finally saying it. I'm tired of neutrals saying we have a poor squad that should be relegated / we don't have a squad good enough to play better football or our own fans saying we have a Championship squad and no goalscorers.

It is all to do with how Dyche is playing them! You can be a Championship side and play better football. You can be someone who hasn't scored in a while and start scoring with a better manager and better football.

This style like Carragher says is 90s tosh that just doesn't work in a copy cat style anymore. You can refine it and make it more modern in the way Frank and Nuno have but Dyche isn't capable of that.

No other manager in the league uses these instructions

No other team fails to commit at least a few more players in attack

You can't create space without movement into forward areas.

The players are following instructions and the tactics are abysmal

Sadly I think for now it has to be similar style but just advancing a player or two further forward. I sense at the start of the season where we conceded more he got nervous and defensive.

Sadly he doesn’t recognise Keane’s contribution to it all of that.

I agree with the pace but even when we have slowed the play down, no one is even trying to attack. No overlaps or anything.

As for a replacement, who knows. That’s a difficult question. I understand the need to build but we need someone who can be flexible to begin with. For example, I don’t want a Russel Martin who live by an exact style. Despite it not being right for your players/level. By all means build up to that but not instantly.

So they're not told to create space and move into areas? Regardless of punts forward.

Has nothing to do with pace to get into those areas and technical ability on the ball?

I would bet you if you'd put Nuno or Thomas Frank in right now he'd look and go..."I need a couple of bodies in January"

It's not piling on reasons why Dyche should go, I'm looking at it from a "how does it improve" regardless of manager. The answer tends to be "buy someone"

We're not aggressive enough in the forward press either which we were last season.

I have been very much in the camp of better the devil you know to get us out of this mess again but the Bournemouth performance did it for me.

People over exagerate things at times but I can honestly say that first half was one of the worst performances Ive ever seen. No cohesion, players looking the wrong way when being passed to, same players occupying the same space, passes going out of play and then when we go one down wait to throw on a big man for lat 10 minutes. We didnt even manage to hit any balls into the box to be able to test them having two big men up front.

Its not a squad of quality and depth but the big question is where should this squad be in the league with a coach that can bring the best out of them eak a couple more places in the league. I think they are massively under performing and can definitely do more and ultimately that comes down to the manager IMO.

Someone called him a glorified interim manager and thats what it is, everyone knows hes leaving, half the squad is out of contract so I think they need to move and put a plan together to try and galvanise.

I will never accept professional footballers at this level and international can’t play better football than what we currently get. I’ve seen the likes of Doncaster last 2 seasons against us play better football than we do.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but my word. Fewer than half the open-play goals of the next worst team...
