It baffles me why he hasn't used alternative formations. I think the only time I can remember us lining up with something other than the low block 4-4-1-1 was last season away at Villa (league cup) and away at Burnley (league) where we played a 3-5-1-1 and won both games. Not seen it since!Definitely. Gone from a "casual chat over dinner" to likely showdown talks about the immediate future of the club and him not being a part of it if results don't improve right away. I think he'll get the Villa game and be removed if we don't win, and that's completely fair to everybody. He's had many opportunities to try new tactics or ask the players to play a different and hopefully more effective way, but he hasn't done so and results have been appalling.
We haven't even seen a 4-4-2 at the start of a game, or a 5-3-2, 5-4-1, 3-5-2 or anything else. I would have thought a 3-5-1-1 might work well for us given we have no decent full backs and he expects his wingers to play defensive, something like: Pickford; Keane, Tarkowski, Branthwaite; Lindstrom, Mangala, Gueye, Doucoure, McNeil; Ndiaye; DCL (using his favourite players, not exactly what I'd pick).
It's clear they haven't watched us at all this season, apart from when we play the 'big boys' and put up a plucky fight. The narrative is "that's as good as they could hope for, so he's doing a good job".Media narratives are funny things, it snowballs from one journalist to the next. Fans have been concerned this whole season for good reason but media just catching up from their previous narrative from last season.
We've spent big on the annual 'bosses big bonding bombay buffet blowout' and feel it's a dignified ending for the manager. It's clear we're looking elsewhere, why even keep him on currently?
How is it clear? Have you seen anything attributable to Thelwell or anyone at TFG to indicate this, or are you taking your lead from a Sky Sports "1+1=2" piece of 'journalism' which has slowly worked its way across the media channels without anything resembling substance? It's clear we're looking elsewhere, why even keep him on currently?
I suspect he knows that too. It will be interesting to see how he approaches it. Will he try and go out with a bang or keep the same branding in the shop window?Personally I think this is his last game for us, win, draw or lose.
Tbh I think it's better to keep him in place till new manager secured, it looks more professional...we have no-one obviously as caretaker( baines has zero experience) and we have seen other clubs results (including ours) get worse under a caretaker, it also looks dreadful to potential transfer incomingsIt's clear we're looking elsewhere, why even keep him on currently?

We are guilty of being in an echo chamber in here at times; if enough people shout "he's being sacked" everyone will immediately jump to that conclusion and it rapidly becomes the perception of the truth.
I watch the same football, suffer the same pain but remain convinced that the best way forward for the club is to make a change in May/June when we will be able to pick from a far more appealing selection of candidates. I just hope beyond hope that Dyche ensures the club remain in the Premier League for this to happen.
The Friedkin's best outcome - and the best outcome for us as far as PSR / transfer budget goes - would be to not need to sack Dyche, and let him leave at the end of his contract in the summer.Tbh I think it's better to keep him in place till new manager secured, it looks more professional...we have no-one obviously as caretaker( baines has zero experience) and we have seen other clubs results (including ours) get worse under a caretaker, it also looks dreadful to potential transfer incomings
If he picks up 4 points he'll be staying.Wouldn't really expect any developments in the coming days now, and with the cup game tomorrow.
Couldn't see him surviving beyond next week if we were to lose that, but let's hope we do not.
Beyond that and if there's nothing imminent and/or TFG cannot as of yet line up a replacement, he will get the Villa game.
But we cannot continue as we are. Whilst a win is gold dust in our position, TFG should have a clear opinion by now, (which is probably also dependent on what transfer business might be done) as to whether they will stick or twist.
It would represent very poor planning if they were to sack Dyche at the end of the month or after the window shuts. I just cannot see Dyche surviving beyond another two league games max, and we really should be looking to pick up at least 4 points from those.
Maybe you're blind or deaf but the very fact he's been asked about his future at the club indicates they're actively looking elsewhere? obviously like lolHow is it clear? I think that with players coming back over the next week or so and with some player investment this month (though the available quality is going to be questionable) that we're capable of staying up.Well exactly. The owners can’t afford to “hope beyond hope” for that. The current manager has a track record of being relegated, and currently all of the stats say that we’re pretty much the second worst team in the league, following the same trend of Burnley in his last season there when he got sacked after effectively relegating them. So it’s not an ideal world, and we can’t afford to just wait until the summer. Action needs to be taken right now.

The side needs more than one player capable of retaining possession of the ball as we attack if he wants to continue playing as he has done for the past two years. McNeil makes us a better team, Garner makes us a better team. They should hopefully be back in contention for the next two league games. Far too much reliance on Ndiaye and the Pickford/Branthwaite/Tarkowski triumvate to perform when we have such a dearth of quality available to pick from.
Yes without a doubt. If he picks up 4 points he'll be staying.
