2022/23 Sean Dyche

I am all for keeping him on regardless of what division we are in next season. He was dealt a bad hand and took over a bunch of failed players expecting to get a tune out of them. Revisit the judgement come Christmas then go from there. A pre-season and hopefully fresh blood and then we can judge him better when his shackles are off. The shackles by the look of it will not be fully off due to our finances but that is when he has to push Thelwell into serious action.

And there is the reason he shouldnt be retained.

People actually praising 1.05 PPG like its something to rejoice at.
With no striker and just sold our (overrated but still) next biggest goal threat. We have a really poor unbalanced side.
We have a defence and midfield that would probably stay in the division with a half decent striker. However there is no goal threat to make teams have to worry about us. We are playing the game on the back foot.
There is little room for any other tactical involvatiom if we don’t have goals in the team or anyone upfront capable of holding the ball up

I think that some of you need a reality check, when Lampard was sacked and Sean Dyche brought in everyone thought that we were dead and buried especially as we sold Gordon, Danjuma did a runner and the transfer deadline came & went without signing a CF. We couldn't hit a barn door from 10 yards before January and it's been the same since, Dyche has done a great job to actually have us in a position of winning our last game to stay up. Whether we do or not remains to be seen, again we have no CF or even FB's for Sunday.

Some of you are talking about replacing him with god knows who like we have a choice of top managers waiting to jump at the chance to manage this bunch of misfits. Why?? So we can be in a bigger mess next season when they don't work out. Dyche has done a good job with one arm tied behind his back and should be given time to right this club and the playing squad to at least compete for mid table if we don't go down. I never thought that we'd be here again after last season but we are because the club is rotten to the core and if it stays the same we'll be rinsing and repeating next year.

Some of you need to realise that we are nowhere near the likes of Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and most of the mid table clubs because of all the mistakes that have been made for many years, we have fallen that far back and with our financial position and FFP we won't be able to turn it around any time soon. If we do go down then the financial consequences will be massive and we could easily end up in League 1 before we know it. If people think that it can't happen to us because we are a "big club" then think again because we aren't anymore and we have caused this ourselves by utter negligence from the top.
We are a long way off these teams but if we added Ivan Toney, Olly Watkins to our team we would be safe. Bottom half but safe.
We have a nucleus of players that could play higher up the table if they were playing with match winners. Mitoma (£3m) and fit Dcl prob sees us around 10-13th place.
We have no players that opposition managers have to think about about.
We now need to realise that we need to scouring the South America and Japanese, Korean markets for the cheap young players on the up. Coupled with the hungry championship players ready to step up.
Dyche has had to work with the tools he has.

We've got our own destiny in our hands with one game left to go

If we win on Sunday then it's job done for him really

It's just a shame we couldn't find winners in those 2-2 draws with Forest and Leicester. We'd already be safe now and we could be getting a look at how Everton under Dyche would look if our survival wasn't on the line

If we stay up then I can see the argument for giving him a chance to show us what he's capable of without the sword of Damocles hanging above us

I'm not his biggest fan but I'll back him into next season if he keeps us up, but if we went down why would you back him?

It would have meant he'd have won 4 games in charge, won 1 game in the last 11. Regardless of the flaws in the squad that's a terrible record.

IF we were to go down that would be the chance to start again, rid ourselves of most of the players and the management, board, literally everyone.

Easy to look back at points dropped and say what if. Would we have beaten Brighton if we’d already have had 4 extra points from those two games? Or kept pushing at Wolves? Would Leicester have been so listless against Fulham if they’d been cut adrift? We’ll never know.

This is literally just discounting the entire reason for the terrible record though. I don’t know why Everton fans have this odd delusion that other teams who are really poor will go down because they’re really poor but even though we have an equally poor squad (if not worse) than the teams we’re competing against our manager should somehow have a record better than one of relegation form.

If Dyche had better players he most probably doesn’t have 4 wins in 17 games does he? So it’s not ‘regardless of the flaws in the squad’ it’s absolutely because of the flaws in the squad.

"Everyone thought".

Erm... lol

I don't think our squad in general is a bottom 3 squad though.

Bad management from 1) a truly horrendous lampard and 2) some horrendous calls from dyche is also a factor to why we are where we are.

If yerry mina had come in after the derby when coady was dropped we would be safe by now.

It is mate, we can’t score. We have no players who score, last year we were one of the lowest scoring teams and we made that situational worse by selling the only player who scores.

If we stay up, and we enter next season with the same attacking outlets, we’ll struggle again.

When it's been good under Dyche (Arsenal, Brighton) it's been the best we've been for years in fairness. I think the problem we have is a severe lack of depth that any manager in the world would have struggled to cope with.

The issue at play is whether you want to persist with the kind of football he brings or not. I'm not against it personally, but can see why some find it hard to stomach.

I guess when you say fit, you generally mean having DCL available?

I’d still say it’s a possibility, yep he massively changes how we play, but nobody else is a threat.
I think having DCL makes everyone else a threat. See Brighton away. DCL didn't actually score himself.
