His handling of the likes of Branthwaite, Cannon and Mills in pre-season will go along way to helping me decide if I hate him here or not.
They could play every minute of pre-season and could still end up going out on loan again if Dyche wants to stick with older, more experienced players. This is the guy who'd rather have 2 goalkeepers on the bench than involve a youth player in the matchday squad, or let academy prospect Simms get splinters so senior pro Maupay could get a run out most weeks despite offering nothing.

There have been a fair few academy players on the bench mate, to be fair. Not sure whether that is necessity or design. He also the one that gave Gardner a fair crack and opportunity.

Then I would say we are going to have another relegation fight.

I'd wager its more necessity than design, but it's not like any of them were an active part of his plans much. Gardner may be young in years, but he is someone brought in for a notable fee and firmly considered part of the first team squad. Dyche just doesn't strike me as the kind of manager who is all that concerned about academy youth development: his job is get results now, trust experience over blooding kids, favour senior pros over prospects, etc.

It's certainly not impossible or implausible that a team who has been in two relegation fights for two years could be in for a third in three.

Imagine how pissed off the other 18 clubs are in the league, you know, the 1s who all followed the rules.
What?

Like Wolves or Chelsea following the rules? Look where that’s got them?

Or Leeds or Leicester who have bankrolled assets and/or future payments for quick buck loans - those types of clubs following those crappy rules?

They might want to watch their glass houses mate.

Not sure anyone is going to be happy with 16th or whatever, but how anyone isn’t looking for a little stability with the on field and manager situation, is completely beyond me.

Dyche wouldn’t have been my first choice but he’s done a more than credible job on picking up away points and organising the team to look more solid at the back, even with Keane there, and getting us safe on the final day, as let’s be honest we we’re dead and buried!

Let Dyche steady the ship, get rid of some of the dross and hope the clueless board back him and thelwell in the upcoming window.

The only pressing matter of current EFC employees being given their marching orders that should matter to us is the stinking chairman and BoD - not the manager, who let’s not forget has achieved his remit and kept the club up.
