Me too. Far too many people seemingly too happy to race to worship at the alter of Dyche because the former Barca Burnley man managed a whopping 5 wins out of 18 and overcame an insurmountable 1 point deficit was it with half a season still to play.

For all his interview soundbites that seemingly have half the fan base in love with him, we all know exactly what happens if we're in the bottom 3 come January.
Won 5 Drew 6 lost 7 not bad for a shambolic team. To be pedantic you can see the progression from Lampard. Lampard had the opportunity to get his own players in....Dyche didn't. What was expected of Dyche? Win all the games with THAT team...get a grip..he did alright and now has, quite rightly, another chance.

Some disney characters on here still expecting miracles......this ain't fantasy this is reality happening and will be a slog for a good few years before we can get excited again.

To be far it's not as bad as last summer when some people were claiming Lampard as the second coming.
Which is EXACTLY what some people on here are saying with Dyche. If you wanted to be pedantic about it you could argue Lampard kept us up with 1 game to spare, Dyche took us down to the last half hour of the season.

Easy to re-write history about Lampard, but let's not make out loads of people on this forum were not saying "let's get behind him", "give him a chance", "he gets us", "he can turns us around" etc etc - same sort of stuff with Dyche right now.

No it was 100% worse, i think some people compared Lampard to Kendall.

We were 16th when Lampard took over and 19th when Dyche took over

I don't think anyone is talking about miracles, and it is VERY MUCH horses for courses: Everton Football Club is about staying in the Premier League (let's not kid ourselves there's any greater ambition than that) and there's far more chance that Dyche will be able to do that than not; ergo job done.

That's what this club has been reduced to. The Dyche's and Big Sam's of this world, because that is the reality of where we're at. There's no doubt in my mind if Dyche puts 45-50 points on the table next season he is safe as houses under the current ownership because that's a "top 17" finish; ergo job done.

And??... Which one secured safety first?

They both did the job asked of them at the time, and absolutely Lampard turned out to be a disaster of an appointment, but I wont re-write history, because he was given a fair shot at the job after keeping a broken team up, just like Dyche did - and exactly why Dyche will be given his fair shot.

His remit will be 'same again Sean' because 17th place is deemed success at this now-tinpot football club: both by the owner, by the [then] board who think they did a good job, and by the fans running on to the pitch to celebrate surviving in a league we offer nothing in, dont compete in, dont challenge for, and went to sleep the night before begging just to be 17th.

Horses for courses. If we're in the bottom 3 come January, we all know the Dyche-brigade will turn just as the Lampard one before him. That's just reality.

Lets see what Dyche can do. At Burnley you cannot deny he didn't do a good job (considering). No choice at Burnley but to play ugly football to survive on the budget he had.
I seen instant progression in footy terms at Everton when he took over with us creating more (albeit without a striker) chances than Lampard did.
Dyche has already been labelled as FS MkII just on his Burnley days. Give the fellah a chance to see if he is capable of moving us onwards and upwards rather than thinking he will make us a Burnley mkII also.

Jeez. One saved us and the other nearly relegated us if you use the maths

This will be true and fair if it happens.

It's called hope. And if Dyche fails Everton FC fail.

Yes lets use maths. No football club in the Premier League has ever been relegated or 'nearly relegated' after 20 games, because there are still 18 to play which is 54 points available. If we are using maths, then it is a mathematical impossibility to be 'nearly relegated' at the half way stage.

Lampard was a disaster, no one disputes that, but let's not pretend Dyche performed "a miracle". He had 18 games to overturn a 1 point deficit and needed until the last half hour of the season to do it - in part due to constantly playing Keane no matter how many mistakes and points he cost week after week, or throwing on Maupey everytime which actually worked against us but he refused or couldn't see these things. But we all overlook that now because 'job done'.

He did the job he was asked to do, no one disputes that, and that is the bottom line, hence why he is is safe as houses in the short term; but for me, 5 wins in 18 is not a gold standard, 1.17 PPG is nothing to shout about - in the cold light of day, its actually flat out embarrassing but it's also the exact reality of where we are. That 17th is success. That staying up is an achievement.

We've swapped the statistically second-worst manager in our history for one which is -so far- only slightly better. Dyche's extrap from his 18 games is 44 points. For me that is an abysmal return, for the football club, it is 100% acceptable as it keeps us in the league. Like I've said: horses for courses.

Every single time a manager gets appointed or a new season starts people have 'hope'. Let's not pretend it lasts very long. If we're bottom 3 in Jan, he's gone. If we're not, he's completely safe - after all, the only ambition this club currently has is to be a Prem team and Dyche will more than likely achieve this.

If Dyche fails, he goes. EFC still exists, still goes on, and we recruit another manager and go again. Just like the one before Dyche. And before him. And before him. And before him...
