I don't need to be a mind reader to know Dyche doesn't set targets. I managed to deduce it from the number of times he's said the words "I don't set targets" in his many interviews. Most people don't exactly need the Sherlock Holmes box-set to figure it out.
If you had our present squad would you set a target? 🙄 You'll be putting at least a fiver on Fulham for a win I'd imagine.

As I said, the targets that I would set are dependent on signings being made, which you'd assume they will be come season start or transfer window close.

I can understand Dyche not setting targets, he's no idiot, why put yourself under extra pressure if you don't have to; especially as his current club only requires him to do the same as his previous one: stay in the league.

But if I were a billionaire who just bought EFC would I be saying to the manager "17th is fine" or would I be expecting to see reasonable measurable progress in reasonable time with realistic ambition? Would I be not bothered about points/places or would I be asking the guy paid £5m per year who said 'there is quality in this squad' to improve his points/wins return? I'd want the latter as you don't become a billionaire by embracing minimum standards. Moshiri on the other hand is only interested in remaining a Prem team, so Dyche's remit is very simple.

I do not buy for a second that Dyche hasn't got targets set for next season. I also believe he's smart enough to not publicly say those targets.

"We expect to be aroun mid-table next season"

Responses: is that realistic? or even further should Everton be targeting just mid-table?

"Our target is to stay in the league"

"OH MY THATS SO NEGATIVE GET HIM OUT".

Ofcourse they have targets, they may not put the pressure on the players with them, and they certainly shouldn't ever put it in the media what the target is.

I believe he’s been told when he signed to keep us in the league until BMD (why everyone thinks our fortunes will change when we do go I’m not sure)

He absolutely 100% has, just as Lampard had the same remit before him, and Rafael before him. Ambition has gone. 17th is acceptable. That is what Everton Football Club has become.

Said the same thing about BMD in another thread. Far too many people seeing it like some magic fix methinks; as if suddenly playing in a new stadium will finally sort us out and everything "just will" be rosy.

You say that Dyche has stated in many interviews that he doesn't set targets. Care to post links to a few,I've just spent an interesting half hour on YouTube and haven't seen one yet. Although I'm sure you'll be thrilled to know he does admit in one to being a childhood Kopite. Most of the interviews he just comes across as a manager who takes the game seriously but also has a sense of humour.

Staying up is acceptable though; we’ve only just beat relegation twice in a row and haven’t strengthened. Be mad not to find that acceptable right now.

It wont sort the onfield matters or coaching set up, youth set up.

What it should do, is open up more revenue streams, be more appealing which can open up more finances, more sponsorship and so forth.

However, all that will mean little if we dont use that to invest in the team. We won't be brilliant at the start of BMD ofcourse, but we should, providing we start doing things right now (lol), be in a position to use those revenue streams to move forward.

I dont think anyone should be thinking as soon as we move grounds, the plaers we have will suddenly become better and we'll suddenly become world beaters.

Staying up and not in the battle to go down towards the end of season. 13-16 would be fine just want to see progress in the team, fixed style of play and something ro build on

Yeah, if we have the same hierarchy then because we will generate more money it just means we have more to spunk up the wall.

The problem isn’t money although it is now it’s the people who have been in control of it the past 7 years, and guess what they are still here. So why is moving home going to change anything?

Mina (end of contract), Coady (end of loan), Davies (end of contract), Townsend (end of contract), Begovic (end of contract), Kean (obligatory due to clause in contract negotiated two years ago), Vinagre (end of loan), Gibson (end of contract - training fee) all gone so far so its a start
Pretty passive stuff

The target for every team and manager at the start of the season is 40 points as quickly as possible. Even Paisley used to set it for that lot when they were winning the league every other year.
