2022/23 Sean Dyche

I'm curious to know how it would end us? Leeds, Newcastle, Man City, Villa and West Ham are all decent sized clubs that were relegated in the last 25 years and have all bounced back, some better than others.

Coventry, Sheff Weds, Sunderland, Birmingham City. All decent sized clubs (similar in size to Man City/West Ham/Newcastle) that didn't/haven't bounced back.

also Man City didn't 'bounce back' - they dropped to Div 1 and were out of the top flight for more than 3 years.

Leeds were also out for several years... but I guess 'bounce back' is a subjective term.

This interview changed the way I thought about Dyche. Hoping he’s successful here

After watching a bit of this I'm more confident.

One thing I like about him is he's very assured. He's not easily rattled, whereas I think Lampard was, which was probably due to a lack of confidence.

Dyche doesn't seem to care what people think about him. I am inclined to believe he's more than just a 'back to basics' manager.

Yes, but if you dont have a team that can score goals he can have all the confidence in the world and it wont matter a thing.

This manager needs to be screaming to his employers to sign two attackers today.

Inappropriate Language
Just so I'm clear, you really believe that we should have employed Dyche, a manager with a 1 in 4 win record, instead of the multi champions league winning Carlo Ancelotti?

This attitude is why we're doomed, JimmyNail92, all is forgiven it is the fans.
A guy that f&#^$d as off as quickly as he could? No thanks.
A guy that bought James, and the brazilian fella at the back who was achingly slow and barely lasted longer than constantly injured James. No thanks. 10th and sliding. Alladyce did better.

I'm not saying Dyche's record is 'better' than Ancelotti's in terms of top honours, of course. But Dyche's an infinitely better fit for what we truly needed then (instead of deluding ourselves that we were somehow CL elect contenders), and sorely needed now.

Reality check - under Mosh we've never spent in the realms of the top 6! We've just wasted money on managers with big egos wasting money on their agent network for players who've not improved us. Blind hope. Ridiculous. Loathsome

We needed a manager that could build on what Moyes had created, and sustain it. Instead we just seem to forget or gloss over the work and grit that went into our defence and CM, and waste money on just about EVERYONE we bought (Lukaku and Richi aside) as our back line and CM slowly caved in.

Dyche could keep us up - but it'd be a miracle with where the board has let this club slide to in terms of standards, BK and co must all go.

It's all about framing, isn't it?

I'd love to feel more like you do.

I'm struggling to break away from the impression that he's only a back to basics manager.

I'm a bit of a hopeless optimist, so I will cling on to anything positive.

But in all seriousness he is exactly what we need. The fans will appreciate the honesty and hard working approach more than anything. He just seems like a proper manager who has a clear idea of what he wants to do and what he expects.

I must admit, he is clear, consistent and straightforward. I 100% get who he is, and that's not always been easy with past managers.

I guess how you view him is how you view those attributes. I value them in a person, certainly. But is it enough for a modern manager?

That simplicity of approach will either mean he's effective, or that he's lacking - and I suppose only time will tell.

I desperately, desperately want my concerns to be misplaced.

We have to get reinforcements no question

I am expecting him to get more out of the attacking players though than Lampard did.

Calvert Lewin, Maupay, Gray, Iwobi, McNeill - they’re all PL proven players who have scored goals in the past and can play a lot better.

Tbh if they were all at the top of their games, a front line of Gray Calvert Lewin Iwobi should be nowhere near a relegation battle. Their recent poor form has skewed perceptions of what they’re capable of but these are not clueless yarddogs.

Somebody on here can probably answer this one but all the talk of onana being sold is surely impossible given that he has now played for two clubs this season? Like Simms can't play for anybody but us or Sunderland. Of course he could be sold and sent back to us on loan for the season but that's a different matter

Didn't appear for Lille so could be sold
