2022/23 Sean Dyche

It's pure insanity to think anyone can get a tune out of this horrible bunch. Relegated by mid march. Worst team in our history. Absolute madness to weaken an already horrific squad.

Dyche (or anyone else coming in here after Lampard without getting cast iron assurances on new players upfront) is taking the piss.

"Fast tracking his methods" to stay up, he talked about. What an utter 'kin walloper this feller is.

If - as seems almost 99% certain now - we dont get any players in by 11pm - I have absolutley zero faith in this feller. I'll see him for what he is: a boardroom stooge just in it for a big drink.

I might be in a minority of one here but, if Calvert Lewin and Gray stay fit all season, I actually think Dyche can keep us up even if we end up with no incomings in the transfer window.

I look at the squad and see:

A very good keeper

Decent defensive resources, far better than what we had last season and have already proved this season they can form a decent defence - Dyche has a decent record for organising one

There’s pace and power in midfield

Upfront yes we look bereft but Calvert Lewin Gray Iwobi Maupay McNeill have all performed in the PL before. These are not a couple of teenagers that we’re pinning all our hopes on.

I just think if we can start edging some of the tight games we were losing then confidence returns and a lot of these players look better than they were.

The risk is that if Gray or Calvert Lewin gets injured we really are down the toilet.

Glad to see you finally seeing the light, Dave. It was obvious by the board's utter reluctance to sack a failed manager - and in their desire to drag out his departure - that they had accepted their fate.

We were relegated the week of the Bournemouth debacle. We just didn't know it yet.
I didn't need to be shown any light. There was a chance here to hand us a lifeline in this window and it wasn't taken. In fact, it's reduced even more our chances for survival.

I feel this too, he's getting a big payday and can walk away scott free. In his position I'd probably do the same if the offer of a few million came my way knowing I can be absolved from blame. Sad sad day this. Will go down in our history this date as the final nail in our coffin. Even the media outlets are saying we have to bring in forwards or else we are gone.

Not enough goals. If we bought a coach with a plan both in attack and defense I'd agree with you.

Calvert-Lewin wont stay fit. We'd be one injury away from having Simms and Maupay leading the line...and that will happen a lot.

I cant believe Dyche has taken this job on that basis. And the message no signings hands out to players who just saw Gordon get off to his "dream move" will be to suggest they're left to get us out of a deep hole we only just got out of with a better team last season.

I agree with you on the need to avoid catastrophising about our relegation chances, but if we get no additions up front we are sunk. Beyond all doubt we are sunk.

Was about to post the same. I don't think it's impossible to stay up. He's kept worse Burnley sides up in the past.

I always found your "get a new manager and two forwards in" line optimistic. We know what we're dealing with. Barring a remarkably improved injury/fitness situation, we're finished.

I doubt anyone really thought we'd see Gordon out and no players in.

Manager hasn't even played a game yet and still questioned shocker. :coffee:

I agree with you. And we'd have stayed up comfortable had he been here after the world Cup.
