2022/23 Sean Dyche

Takes time to build a balanced squad. It’s clear that financial regs killed us the last few windows and we had to sell Gordon and Richarlison to balance books. We probably put all our eggs in Danjuma’s basket then the rest of the free agents and loans either weren’t up to standard or didn’t want to come here. A ridiculous situation to be in but one that Dyche can’t really do much about.

It’s going to take time to balance the books and balance the squad. The years of poor recruitment, constant managerial change, crippling injuries, have left us on the wrong side of the regulations with an unbalanced mess of a squad.

I’d like to hope we have more money in the summer as another expensive loss making year falls off the accounts and we will have some wriggle room to spend. Stay in the league, stay with Dyche, move on some players, bring in some decent ones in the right positions, improve from there.
Need to rein in the ridiculous wages too. If that means letting contracts run out then we should. I understand why we tried it, thinking these almost rans in bigger clubs might take us to the next level but it did the opposite. We need to cut our cloth to match our revenue. The Brighton model should be our goal but have our fanbase the patience for something like that? We have our own Moshiriesque attitude at times when it comes to bigger more recognisable names when we should be covering more extensive scouting to find the next Mitoma

We had to stick with Lampard too. Stability is only good when it's stable at an acceptable level. Dyche has 16 matches to show us he can do that. But the mistake with Frank was looking at staying up as proof. The results don't matter. We have to play better. If we do Dyche stays if we don't try again whether it's the PL or the championship.

Lampard deserved his shot, i wasn't overly enthused by his appointment but backed him on the basis he wasnt Pereira and he was someone who could develop and grow as a manager together building a young team - i really hoped he could provided the stability we desperately need, he did bring some unity for a time and we need that at the time. Problem with Lampard was he didnt grow, in fact i think it was his dogmatic approach to how he wanted to play that was his undoing, to be fair to him like Dyche he was handed a dogs dinner and he didnt have the experience to manage it. Relegation was the red line for him, its not for Dyche given the external factors and the context hes been given as far as im concerned.

Well results and our position mean we have to play better and also be more competitive - stylistically i couldn't care less how that happens to be honest, once and if it happens.

I feel Dyche is a proper football manager, im happy to say that despite who disagrees and ill back him now, i have real confidence in him. Hes a rock that can be built upon. I don't think we've had that since Carlo and Silva, though Benitez had skills as a manger but was to dogmatic and authoritarian - i just couldn't tolerate Benitez and i wouldn't be afraid to say that, while externally he created toxicity and division inside and outside the club.

I don't agree on Lampard. And I won't agree when people are saying we have to give Dyche more time if the play isn't good enough. Half a season is enough time for progress.

Not your fault, but you dont understand Evertonians, nor, Everton.

Snarl, grit, work and sweat are in our DNA. Then comes "the play". Possibly the most celebrated home Goodison game was BM. Watch that, and you will start to see what we mean.

Sigh.

We all want to win. You don't actually care how. You can say you'll accept all of those things without the winning but you won't.

Everton outplayed Bayern on that night. They could play football. Somehow that's been lost down the years.

No, its not been lost. Everton were fantastic in the 0 0 away leg, but were 0 2 down at half time at home. They then displayed the qualities (grit sweat etc etc) to enable them to play. They literally scared BM players with Evertonian DNA.

Its not the be all and end all, but without it, you have nothing.

Trying to lecture me on our most famous match and unable to even get the facts right.

There's absolutely no chance in Hell you have gone back and watched an Everton game from 1985. 0% chance.

Oh! mate...you were doing so well

Watched press conference for Leeds, did he watch the same game as me at RS he said all the stats were good and he seemed to say he was happy with the performance, hope he's not another one here just to get the pay off cheque
