2 games against table topping Arsenal and one at the pit. You expected points from those?.

I don’t “expect” points from any game, I think we’re the worst team in the league. But the reality of the situation is simply we have to pick up points against teams that are better than us or we are going down. So whether we expect to or not is academic, we just have to.

Well if we're the worst team in the league Mike he's already beaten two teams better than us. Lots of football to be played yet.

I get that they wanted a manager that is known to be pragmatic knows what the relegation fight entails and can instill grit but unless our defenders can be prolific with set pieces we're set for the drop as I know our attacking players are dirge but maybe a coach that has tactics that are known to produce goals even with offensively limited players would have been better

I think Dyche is our best bet for the next 2 seasons should we get relegated. The club will definitely spend for next season. Inevitably the players we can sign will not be of PL standard. Dyche if involved in the choices might fashion a top 4 place next season. Hopefully it will not happen and we can stay up.

Only the top two get automatic promotion to the Premier League, the four teams below that have to go through the rigmarole of playoffs. The Championship is a tough league, and very easy to get stuck in if you don't come back up at first attempt.

COYB!

John.

Eh?

Because that's the point I was addressing.

This is you;

"but why does he keep playing Maupay, we all know he will never score goals, I also know we don't have much in reserve but please at least try something different"

"At least please try something different."

I'm simply expressing my opinion, that your opinion is baffling.

He's had 5 games. He's started 3 different strikers in those 5 games. Calvert-Lewin, Simms and Maupay. He's tried 4 players upfront if you include Gray vs Arsenal late on.

To imply he's either stubborn, or won't try something different is in my view at odds with reaIity

If you read my article properly you will see I am not saying he does not change players, what I am saying is he does not change the system even towards the end of a game when we are getting beaten like putting up a centre half to cause problems and make 2 forwards and I certainly did not mention Keane. I know what I said and I don't need heavy type to prove it.

It is somewhat the same as continuity when it comes to the manager, which some have argued strongly for. Players need to play together regularly to form relationships and as such can become an advantage. Often referred to as socio-affective superiority.

Dyche doesn't have much time, and needs to find an 11-13 player that he trusts, and who gets the message. These must then be given time to develop a common understanding of each other and different situations. If he is constantly trying something new, new players, new tactics, then this small advantage will not develop.

I think he knows Maupay is pants. So i would expect him to look at starting Gray or changing things differently. He has dropped/rested Cody and he obviously made himself clear by subbing Gana. Unlike other managers i would hope he is seeing through some of these inconsistent players.

Since the World Cup we have played 10 games and have won 7 points.

Dyche has 6 points from his 5 games. Losing at home to bottom of the league Wolves and Southampton will cost us badly. Going to be a tight finish.

We needed someone who was very tactically aware and tactically cute and who has shown they can operate in this setup and has shown they can motivate and improve players and get them playing,
But there isn't a manager anywhere who could operate successfully in this set up.

That's why we are fighting relegation!

There are loads of good managers abroad we could have looked at, many of whom where out of work. We always go down the 'PL experience' route when it comes to managers and its never really worked out yet for us.
