2022/23 Sean Dyche

With Dyche we all know he kept Burnley competitive in the premier league for a good period of time. The lack of talent he had at his disposal was surpassed by the work ethic.

I know everyone hates all our players at the moment but we have better players than he did at Burnley so the bar is higher IMO. The question is, is he more than just a one trick pony or can he adapt with better players.

He'd get us organised defensively which is an absolute must but without goals currently in the team are we destined to lose but only lose by the odd goal or can he get us winning games by the odd goal.

The defence looks made for him to work with, all Dyche 'type of players' but can he get us scoring goals, thats the million dollar question.
With the players Dyche would have at disposal currently at Everton as painful to the point of self gratification, the truth of the matter is we would be better defensively sat back on 18 yard box...

One thing about Dyche is that he might put his heart into it - Bielsa might just get the hump and other managers may just crumble in the mess.

It's difficult to imagine Champions League football with him - but we aren't really anywhere near there are we ?

You'd hope he could make a fist of the job with what we have already + a few additions.

Others may need a season, which we don't have.

Also, shame on you all that my original Dyche thread from the start of the season was thrown to 'World Football' in GOT when my finger was clearly on the pulse of Everton's future. Now if you must know, I think Dyche keeps us up and we keep him until Bramley Moore.

We can't play front foot high energy football, every time we try it we get thrashed, and this has been the case for the last 5 years at least.
But you are continuing this trend by appointing Dyche. Why can't people see that appointing those dinosaurs just because we have had years of terrible recruitment just compounds the problems and keeps us as the skid-mark of football that we have become?!

We need to move in the right direction. If we appoint Bielsa, I 100% agree that our current team could not play his style, but it would mean we get in players who can. With Bielsa's style there are few who play it, but a focus on, fit, young, dynamic footballers who are brave on the ball and play good football mean that those players could then adapt to other good styles, such as a gegenpressen side.

Whereas Dyche's 4-4-2 mutants are likely to struggle to do so. That style is not compatible with anything other than failure. So when the Dyche experiment fails we will have another 5 years of being stuck with awful footballers who we can't shift and who would make it difficult to progress and move in the right direction.

Silly argument. Lampard undeniably put his heart into it. He was just a poor manager.
