2022/23 Sean Dyche

With Dyche we all know he kept Burnley competitive in the premier league for a good period of time. The lack of talent he had at his disposal was surpassed by the work ethic.

I know everyone hates all our players at the moment but we have better players than he did at Burnley so the bar is higher IMO. The question is, is he more than just a one trick pony or can he adapt with better players.

He'd get us organised defensively which is an absolute must but without goals currently in the team are we destined to lose but only lose by the odd goal or can he get us winning games by the odd goal.

The defence looks made for him to work with, all Dyche 'type of players' but can he get us scoring goals, thats the million dollar question.

He's an manager experienced in working with limitations. He's admitted that. You tell me what I've got and I'll work with it is what he's said.

IMO we need that. Someone who'll come in under no illusions and squeeze as much as he can put if what we got, and hopefully get him some players in January to help.

One piece of the mess we're has been getting managers who want to play a certain way, but due to recruitment and short termism, it doesn't work.

Dyche will have no ego to "play his way" if they can't do it. He'll come in and get what he can out of them.

He should've been given the job Monday IMO

Agree that in our current circumstances we shouldn't be appointing someone with some carved in stone way of playing in his head, regardless of the capabilities of the current Everton players. Pragmatism for 18 months is the way to go, unfortunately.

Seen a lot of folks on the forum swallowing the lazy punditry line about Dyche automatically meaning low block, boring football - reasonable since the Burnley games that were televised are the ones where they needed to sit deep and defend against the Top 6, but not actually true.

Yes it'll be defensive (we are joint bottom) but it certainly doesn't mean the high press will evaporate over night. The press might get triggered less given the fixtures ahead and our position in the league, but crucially, it'll be far better organised - simply because we have a much better coach (and the same would be true if it was Bielsa).

Burnley regressed in his final year, but certainly in the two years prior, they were regularly much further up the pitch than people recognise - here's a few examples:

Everton 1 - 2 Burnley -

Leicester 1 - 1 Burnley -

Burnley 1 - 1 Arsenal -

and what the closest example to what I think we'll see under Dyche at Goodison (two forwards press, midfield and backline push up to win the resulting long ball, counter) - Burnley 2 - 0 Fulham to send Fulham down -

It's so basic mate. It's trying to talk technically about exceptions to the rule. Like when his Burnley side scored a good passing goal against us. Things happen that go against the norm (like when Cuco Martina scored a worldie for Southampton), the focus should be on what the norm is.

Listening to Dyche talk tactics is like listening to old blokes down the pub. Whoever said it on here is right, it's proper Mike Bassett territory.

And never use games against Everton as an example of anything as we are always awful and a farce. Same loons who convinced themselves McNeil was anything other than abysmal because he once scored a really good goal against us.

Everyone who is in favour of this is doing the board's job for them. They are accepting mediocrity and genuinely believing that it is possible to move forwards with retrograde thinking, which is a contradiction in terms.

True mate.
This squad cannot play open football playing it from the back , nice little patterns like man city light
it's been proved time and time again.
Don't know what are fans have been watching.
Its fashionable not to want Dyche because he hasn't got a fancy foreign name.
Got Burnley relegated twice both times the board had cut the money off for an already overworked squad.
First time to pay for a new training ground, second time they had ten players at the end of there contracts and a few loans, three of that squad are still completely out of football to this day.
Sold his top scorer to a rival, imagine Frank or anybody else for that matter putting up with that.
Bielsa was found out by the prem look at Leeds before he went, but no the hipsters think he is the man to take us forwards, he hasn't the time to get these players fit , or the players to play the way he wants.
Honestly baffling me what some fans are watching, same soft gets were saying back Lampard a few months ago when anyone with a basic understanding of the game could see he want up to the job.
We are deep in the crap and need to fight are way out if it.
