2022/23 Sean Dyche

For me Dyche is a competent but uninspiring manager.
He has largely performed as expected grinding out draws peppered with the occasional win.
To his credit he has kept us in with a chance of survival with a hand full of games to go.
His preferred playing style and career statistics suggest that he would struggle to exceed lower mid table finishes.
Whichever division we wind up in I would prefer we appointed a manager capable of building a team that can eventually establish itself at a higher level than the lower half of PL ,hopefully playing a better standard of football than Dyche has previously been capable of coaching.

Problem is that hard, very hard, unless we get very lucky we wont find one. Everyone is finding it hard to find the right man, thats why there has been so many sackings this season, the pool to pick from really isnt that great unless you take a chance, but few of them chances are paying off for anyone, Burnley might of got lucky, but lets see how they do next season.

The problem is the board and Director of Football don’t have a plan. So we go from one extreme to the other. Dyche was not the right man, neither was Bielsa.

If you have a long term plan, it’s easier to find a fit

Who do you think we should of got? Not much out there, for the last few years all we have been able to do is take the best available to us at the time in our circumstances. I like Dyche, he suits us

Of course you like Dyche, he’s uninspiring and dull. Reminds you of the good old days of achieving nothing. He’s an awfully poor manager.

But, again, you’re missing the point. It’s not a case of who”I” or “you” would have went for. It’s the abhorrent behaviour of this board and owner and their inability to run a club.

It’s why we’ve turned to someone who managed to keep Burnley in the league

That's only the case if you insist on going for the 'PL experience' route. It's a route that has achieved nothing for us whether its players or managers. No English manager has won anything in the PL. Most teams now have a more 'coach type' in charge, someone who just wants to work on the training ground and develop the players and who are more tactically aware of whats needed in the modern game. The old skool manager types like Moyes and Dyche are being sidelined out of the game if you look about.

Who do you really think we could get now? I recall now you didnt seem to be happy with Rafael either and also thought we could of done better then with the 1.8m war chest we had to entice a quality manager.
Dyche is a good fit for this club, best choice for years really

And here we go ladies and gentlemen, with fans like this we deserve to be relegated

It's sit back with 2 banks of 4, don't engage or press the opposition, soak up pressure and try and nick something from a free kick or corner.

We don't get players into forward areas and don't show any urgency to go and win a game. He's an extremely limited manager, and I see no real difference in how we are playing now from earlier in the season. We have conceded slightly fewer goals, but not scored any more than before. The lack of intent is my bigest concern.

It took us 25 mins and going behind to bother pressing Fulham. Then we made a change and went aggressive for 10 minutes, got an equaliser before half time and should have scored 2 more. Then after half time, we went back to the passive sit back football and got absolutely battered for 45 minutes. I'm still baffled by it all.

We won't stay up if we don't try to score goals. Having only ever 1 man in the box is football from a different age. What worked for Dyche in the championship 10 or 12 years ago won't work now. The game has changed but his methods are the same.
You're likely right, but I just can't see this board sacking him. They are the very definition of incompetent.

This is true but its a massive gamble if you go outside PL experience in our circumstances, Brighton have done great with De Zerbi but they have an owner who has the club ran well.
We just have to ride out this period in time and for now a manager like Dyche is all we were going to get

I agree, in the time period we had it wasn't the right time to look elsewhere and also because of the off field issues and protests it possibly wasn't the best look to an outsider.

No its fans like you who cant wait to get onto a manager regardless of the reality of the situation
I’m not getting on Dyche though, have I called for him to be sacked? Sacked in the summer??

I’m stating things I stated when he was at Burnley and people like foreverblurt92 were spouting. about how amazing he was.

The reality is, he’s not a good manager. He’s been dealt an awful hand at Everton, but it’s still does not deter from my opinion.

But people like you have supported the continued demise of this club, from chairman to ceo, to awful managers to awful players.

All these scenarios, which you support, are the reason we are where we are. Not because I didn’t want Benitez or Dyche.

He is a bottom half of the table manager who wants to punch above the clubs weight, that was pretty much Burnley and for now it seems to be us too. Thats why he is right for us, also he seems to actually want to be at Everton, which is important, unlike managers like Carlo and Koeman who never cared about the club we need someone who is willing to give everything to help us.
He might not be a good manager but its not a very good club these days
