Just a difference of opinion mate.
I don't think that squad is terrible.
Nowhere near as bad as the two sides that nearly dropped in the 90s
Just look at what Emery has done at Villa. Gerrard left them in a mess.
That's good management.
Thats all I'm looking for
and I don't see it in Dyche.
Watkins > Maupay

End of conversation.

There’s no comparison between the Villa and Everton squad. We can barley field a striker, they let Ings go because they didn’t even need him.

How many of the Everton 11 get in a combined team? Maybe Pickford (although that’s close) perhaps Onana (although I’m sure Villa fans would make a case for McGinn or Ramsey). Everyone else would be a Villa player.

Then they have players like Coutinho Traore on the bench whilst we have goalkeepers and kids.

Villa were in a false position because Gerrard was a clown. Everton’s squad is genuinely one of the bottom five poorest in the league.

No issues with Dyche, but if we get relegated he has to go. The whole club will need rebuilding, I expect 80% of the senior playing staff to leave either on a free or sold to keep the wolves from the door. In response we will need to put faith in the clubs youth and unfortunately I don't think Dyche is the man for that style of rebuild.

Player that Sean Dyches Burnley signed under the age of 24
2014/15 - Michael Keane (22) started 17 games
2014/15 - Marvin Sordell (23) started 3 games
2015/16 - James Tarkowski 23 started 3 games (joined halfway through the season) started 6 games the following season
2015/16 - Chris Long 20 Started 1 game
2017/18 Charlie Taylor 23 started 10 games
2019/20 Bailey Peacock Farrell 22 started 0 games
2021/22 Nathan Collins 20 started 10 games and then Dyche got sacked

Players from Burnleys acadamy to play more than 10 games

Dwight McNeil

There are some other players such as Jimmy Dunne & Joel Mumbongo who got 3 or 4 appearances under Dyche but only once they had hit the ages of 22 & 23 respectively, but finding articles of the usual spin of 'they are working with the first team, 'need to work hard', ' not ready yet'

Now i understand this is all subjective and i picked a specific age of under 23 (mainly because the players people are worried Dyche wont give an opportunity are under 23), i think these stats prove that someone like Isaac Price will be making the right decision, and i wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Stan Mills follow him.

In terms of Jimmy Dunne, there appears to be similarity's between him and Simms, his only starts appear to be aginst the likes of City or United away, then pulls him out hte team for the likes of someone like Kevin Long

Villa's midfield is head and shoulders above ours with Luiz, McGinn & Ramsey off the top of my head

I sort of agree. Who would you go for? Is it a romantic Rooney - Baines combo, or do we just find really good young managers from anywhere and rebuild?

Schumacher better credentials than any of them if you want to go on an emotional basis.

Rosenior, Rob Edwards, Kieran McKenna, plus 100s of managers on the continent

A key difference though would be the quality of the academies. It’s long been debated on here that Everton’s academy doesn’t produce the right quality of player (I personally think it’s an overly negative take and we probably produce just as many truly top players as most other PL teams over a long period). Everton have worked on their academy for years starting under Moyes and the move to Finch farm. Burnley are probably miles behind in terms of bringing through kids consistently that are ready to play in a PL relegation battle (which Burnley were often in). I’m sure if good players are available to Dyche then he’ll try to develop them as we’ve seen with Onana. The sad truth is most kids in the academy, even the highly rated ones, aren’t good enough for PL football and even less are good enough for top half PL football. There’s not been many kids we’ve let go from the academy who then rock up in the first team of a top 6 side.

Burnleys youth team reached the FA Cup semi finals in 11-12!

Sean Dyche took over at Burnley a year later

Also the quarter finals in 19/20

Sheffield United made the FA Cup semi finals this year. How many of them could play for a top half team?

Dowell Ledson Davies Kenny won youth team PLs for Everton but they weren’t good enough.

I’ve got no problem with putting the accusation at the manager’s door if I thought he was ignoring several PL ready products in the youth team but at Everton the opposite is normally true, we’ve given players who probably aren’t good enough far too much game time.

Kenny Davies Dowell McAleny Pennington Garbutt Browning Galloway Simms Dobbin Onyango Baningime probably don’t even get a debit for any other PL team. Even going all the way back to Jose Baxter Dan Gosling etc. we’ve always given kids premier league minutes who were probably nowhere near it.

As people have loved to say on here in recent years, success (what you’ve described is hardly success but we’ll run with it) at youth level is irrelevant, it’s about what happens after that. If a load of those youth sides went on to have successful careers at the same/higher level than Burnley then it would suggest a problem. If they didn’t then it wouldn’t. I genuinely don’t know the answer but I would guess that as in most cases, those lads didn’t kick on and become top level players anywhere.

Very good points .
In all honesty there isn't an Everton player that would make their team. I can't imagine that any clear thinking fan Evertonian or otherwise would think otherwise.
