2022/23 Sean Dyche

1 win in 11 is the only stat I need to show my discontent. It has chased other managers out, why is Dyche any different, especially when he's not even putting his strongest side out.

I held on to the thought Lampard could turn it around far too long. Therefore when it isn't good enough, it isn't good enough. He was supposed to make us hard to beat and organised, then picks Keane.

Those other managers have lost the majority of those games though.

And based on the numbers... we are harder to beat under Dyche.

Lampard last 14 games
3wins. 2 draws. 9 losses

Dyche last 14 games
3 wins. 5 draws. 6 losses

It's in the details though. We're making more errors, collapsing spectacularly, and conceding more. But we're also scoring more, having more shots, getting back into games under Dyche.

You clamp out the errors, we'd get results. Sadly playing certain players with a record of clangers is going to happen. And that's on Dyche.

And that's all fair. I can't stress enough that i'm not saying Dyche is blameless and i'd do everything exactly the same as him. I can see why he's doing what he's doing, that's all. I think we have a really poor squad which lacks so many things, and so any combination in any formation is still not very good. He's paid to find solutions and if he can't find them then ultimately he's failed, that's how the game works, but I do think people are being harsh calling him a clown or clueless or whatever. Lampard had us 19th with his own players and effectively 2 pre-seasons to work on things - that's why we are where we are. Dyche was always up against it coming in when he did (I said after the Southampton loss in early January that I didn't think we had enough winnable games left to get out of it so I'm sort of surprised that we're still in with a shout at this point personally) but it feels like he's ending up getting blamed because he's not been able to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I agree with you. I still think Dyche is the right pick.

He's just making a lot of mistakes recently.

But then again he's been here 4 months, 14 games, and had zero help from the board. So his margins are gonna be millimetres

That maybe but has he helped himself. Look at last games no subs when clearly they were need. He is taking us down.

Did you miss the bit where we are being investigated for financial impropriety, and have barely spent anything (in relative terms) for the last couple of years because we haven't got the proverbial to do our business in?
I think you need to be more ambitious, we'll just stay where we are if we carry on being like you. Show some ambition, Simeone or Xabi Alonso.

Maybe he just really doesn't rate a lot of the players

Here’s one for the Dyche aficionados to answer - even Lampard had Keane sussed and launched him out of the picture.

Also, i don’t get why fans can’t be wound up about his team selection and in game management.

We can be critical of the manager and not want him hung. I know there are massive issues at everton that have got nothing to do with Dyche, and there are clearly big issues we need to resolve, but if I feel he’s not affecting the things that he can control well or even adequately (team selection, tactics and subs) then I’m gonna say something.

Let's be realistic, we have found our true level re manager.

What young, progressive, ambitious manager would come here at present?.

There's one reason Keane, Tarkowski and McNeil are in the team every week - and it's nothing to do with their ability with a football.

It's entirely about Dyche's familiarity with them.

Fair enough to have a say.

We do not see them in training, how bad must Mina be to not get a chance? Keane is very poor, so what does that make Coady and Mina? Godfrey has been terrible as a right back (and left back) so how bad must Patterson have been to not get a chance?

or do we really think the manager just picks his favourites regardless of ability?

Mina can be the greatest of all time and he'll still not get ahead of Keane anyway. Has nothing to do with ability - everything to do with favourites. Moyes was the same with Neville, Osman, etc.
Martinez had Howard
etc. etc.

So to your last point - yes.

Clearly he does pick favourites - sick of this training pitch argument.

I’ve seen enough of Keane on the match day pitch to know he’s useless, regardless of the odd screamer he rattles in.
