He is such a weird character.

You have all this bluster in press conferences and ‘call me Gaffer’ energy on the training ground, but he strikes me as a much weaker man than he’s prepared to present to the world.

He’s constructed this honey monster persona to mask that, but it breaks through in things like these retrospective complaints in press conferences and his panicked randomised substitutions when he thinks the fans might boo him for not trying to change a looming defeat.

See also his perfunctory three or four claps above his head followed by running down the tunnel after every game, and his “I haven’t got a problem with the fans,” sound bites he slings into most press conferences when discontent is suggested by the journalists.

There just no relationship there whatsoever. No attempt to build one from him.

I genuinely think he’s scared of us.
He's at his last opportunity amongst 'the big boys' and as such he's simultaneously trying to stretch the job out, retain some credibility because his next jobs are dropping subsequent divisions until he reaches obscurity.
Let's be honest, he'll never be a pundit on telly. Too thick.

If he keeps us up, he's done a tremendous job.

Without the deduction - we'd be 10 points clear of 17th. With a game in hand. With 17th having 7 games to go.

That would be real progress as a season compared to the 2 before him.

What's our net spend since be rocked up?
Net spend isnt really a great metric IMO.

10th highest wage bill in the League tho.

But hey, I do agree, if he keeps us up after 2 points deduction, hes done well.

It does impact, it's natural, but if he's big on controllables - he's not doing a good job of those really.

Fans voted overwhelmingly that survive relegation was the objective this season.

That was before being told we'd play 4 months with a 10 point deduction. Before reduced to 6.

If he keeps us up in the circumstances he's had - he's done a good job.

But, football is short term, fans have short menories and of course, results dictate. Hard to allow him to go much longer without a win.

Sack in the summer and keep this exact squad and I'm convinced we're fighting relegation again no matter the manager.

Comes down to how good you think this Everton team is.

I think we face a very, very tough summer.

Our jewels will be sold and some of the cash will be used to pay off debt, its not going to be pretty.

I feel like we would need a really good manager to escape relegation next season or at least a perfect transfer window, but thats the future.

Dele Alli, Andre Gomes and co to the rescue, then.

Reckon players like Iwobi we've sold under Dyche was on more than any we've signed.

And who would that be?

Who is willing to come to the most chaotic team in the league without a pot to piss in? Who have (hopefully) survived relegation by the skin of their teeth 3 years on the spin?

Touché, I was expecting that reply.

But he did "spend" 70million in the Summer, for Beto and Chermo to kiss pine.

Having £0 upfront would have severely limited choice. They wanted that Gyökeres, Gnonto etc but got laughed at.

No way Dyche had heard of or wanted Chermiti, either.

A fair point, but he either has control and can say no to signings or things happen above his head.

He cant have it both ways.

But the points deduction and the 3 and a half months without a win lies heavily on the fanbase, he cant do nothing about the deductions, but he can certainly get us some wins, starting today.

3 points today and the mood changes, the noises lessens.

Any you'd like to name who'd be that very, very good manager?

See, I think we need a base level because if we get any worse - we do go down. We don't have the luxury to gamble.
I dont have any names, I dont know which League we are in or who are our owners will be, but if Moyes was available, I would be looking at him.

I know, not a very, very good manager.

It appears he turned down some crap Reading forward. Pretty sure he wouldn’t have turned down us paying money for Chris Wood or the like.
I don't know Chris Wood too much as a player, but what made him scoring 10 goals+ in 4 seasons in a Dyche team, now again 11 in a forest team. 5 seasons 10+ goals for relegation candidates is a respectable value.

What's difference that Dyche cannot make someone like Beto or DCL at least getting there with the tactics? Are these 2 less talented???
