Obviously not a better manager but he has done a better job at Everton than Ancelotti did when you compare their 18 months.
Would love ancelotti to release details of that conversation he had in London before he legged it. He probably thought "what the hell have I gotten involved in?".

We were 19th in the league last season when Dyche come in, below - without Michael Keane having played a single minute that season.

... Without 1 minute of Michael Keane.

We were wrote off as down when Dyche come in, but later that season it was Keane who was sending us down - apparently.

A huge problem for us was we broke a Premier League record for the most defensive combinations.

We needed stability.

Dyche didn't put Keane right in. He kept with Tarkowski and Coady - he only dropped Coady after his horror show when we lost to Villa 2-0 at Goodison.

Putting Keane in helped for a spell. Clean sheet in a win over Brentford, away draw with a depleted team at Chelsea when Simms cored and then the Spurs game when Keane slammed one in from distance.

In hindsight, he could have dropped him sooner towards the end for Mina - as he eventually did as he had no choice - Mina's fitness couldn't be relied upon so I understood wanting a settled defence. You dont want to keep dropping centre halfs and for ones with legs made out of cheesestrings.
We conceded 28 in the first 20 games.

We conceded 29 in the remaining 18 games.

Think Lampard did a crap job, but the defence wasn’t necessarily the issue.

Im not arguing about needing the stability and not making loads of changes as I do agree generally but Mina was available for every game Dyche oversaw last season.

I think the issue is, he was very quick to drop coady after a bad game, but persevered for several games with Keane before eventually dropping him for the last 4 when we then won 2.

i think he's a very good manager, i just don't think he's a progressive manager

he is like roy hodgson in may ways, solid and reliable

i don't think we will be breaking into the top 10 anytime soon under dyche, yeah he will bring us stability which is what we need but at some point where do you draw the line and try and be ambitious like villa have been with appointing emery and signing big name players outside the premier league like diaby and bailey. obviously we are restricted in being able to do that atm with our atrocious financial state but don't tell me that we can't find good players on the cheap outside of the prem.

We'd be joint 10th at the moment without a points deduction. ;)

Branthwaite is a superstar in waiting it’s hardly a difficult choice. We’ve had 3 centre midfielders for 2 positions, 2x 22yr olds and 1x 34 yr old and gana has had injuries and went to the AFCON. McNeil had had about 6 seasons in the premier league, he’s more experienced than danjuma

Well the original poster said Dyche would ignore a regen Wayne Rooney for a more experienced player, so the example of Branthwaite is proof that he wouldn’t. We all only know Branthwaite is a star because Dyche played him and kept him in, he didn’t have to, would have been extremely easy for him to play Keane all season, keep tryin Godfrey, or keep Holgate of Coady. He did none of these and played a young player at CB, much to his critics annoyance.

He was extremely fortunate that Maddison missed that pen or we’d have gone down, after the 4-1 debacles at home v Newcastle, he kept Keane in and played Godfrey at RB I think for the Leicester game, Keane at fault for one goal and giving the pen away.
Next game at Brighton Mina and Patterson came back in

what are you on about

he went on loan to PSV before Dyche came here and played in the champions league and europa league and also won two trophies over there, he then won the Euro under 21 championship

he also played some games under lampard

What about the other 2 points I made???
Had Branthwaite made a few mistakes he would have been taken out after a few games, but he didn’t
Like dyche playing young over Myko and then at RB, yet he was costing us goals and picking up yellow and red cards every week, but kept getting picked
