2023/24 Sean Dyche

I'd love someone to ask Dyche why Liverpool, Brighton, Chelsea etc are all getting fit and noticeably playing in a new style.
They all look fitter and more motivated than our lot too
Must be joyless bleep tests all day

Dyche seems to think a couple of “Gaffer” days and the players are fit.

Doesn’t seem to have any understanding of sports science. Surely some one from the sports science side of things must be advising him on how to load the players and get them up to optimum conditions.

We’ve never looked fit under Dyche. Which won’t be help with his reluctance to use any substitutions too.

Saying that Dyche shouldn't be in charge at BMD doesn't mean denying the job he's done in keeping us up. Credit where credits due he's kept us where we need to be to be in a position to rebuild when the time comes.

That doesn't make him the man to undertake that rebuild though, 2 very different jobs.
Unless we get money to spend there’s no point in changing

What?
You can moan about his style, but really about fitness ?
We have a small squad and managed to keep us up in a season of total turmoil on and off the pitch.

His approach to fitness is dreadful imo the whole 'Gaffers day' is just nonsense. You won't find many teams that spend an entire training session with no ball work just doing shuttle runs and fitness work and doing that twice in a week. Mourinho once said that when in training players should always have a ball at feet even if they are just walking/running around a pitch. We also have alot of wasted running during games due to the way he sets the team, players are making pointless runs they don't need to make. Last season players were run into the ground by Christmas time looking tired and after that we went on a near four month winless run. It's pre season and look at the injuries being racked up, going a bit too hard with the boot camp stuff maybe.

There is an entire article in the athletic talking about how during pre season they listen to the sports scientists the most.

The gaffer day stuff is about mental resilience, not fitness.

Spot on.

How on earth there are people who'd look at our last two seasons and believe we're better off without Dyche beggars belief.

Maybe they'd prefer Koeman, Benitez or Lampard back.
It’s amazing.

I think what he achieved last year alone should be enough to give him time.

2 points deductions hanging over the clubs head for most of the season. All the financial uncertainty and the need to sell players/reduce the wage bill dramatically over the last few seasons.

People seem unable to put it all into perspective.

‘Why aren’t we playing like the top 3 teams in the country?’

And yet we had one of the most resilient squads in the league last season.

Achieved every remit given to him.
People upset because most the worse results happened in chunk and we weren’t playing like prime Brazil.

We got away compared to normal but the overloading from early on definitely contributed towards tired players during that near four month winless spell, you could see how tired the players were by looking at them and it was concerning imo. Also look now we are a few weeks into pre season with only a couple of weeks till the actual season starts and we already have a big list who haven't featured due to injuries, hell we only signed Lindstrom the other week and he is injured already!! Pre season is about avoiding as many injuries as you can, maybe a good year last season is now catching up with us.

The football we play under Dyche is a very tough watch, but, he was brought in with a specific brief, to keep us in the prem. By hook or by crook, he's managed to achieve that. Under no circumstances would I sack him now, as I don't think anybody else would do better with the circus that is currently Everton, but, I long for the day when we have a bit of stability, hopefully before the end of his contract.

The new owners, should they have been found, should thank him for his part in keeping us up and allowing us to start afresh at our new home. They should then appoint a manager who is less of a firefighter and more of a team builder and, and who's brand of football doesn't make our eyes bleed.

Where’s the love in?

Half the forum are saying they’d like him out now, out by Jan, or out by the end of the season.

The other half is saying he’s done a decent job and perhaps he can take us a bit more further before an ownership change/new stadium and it probably needs to be reassessed.

Where in any of that is a love in? No one’s calling for a 5 year deal, there’s no mural of him on the stadium, he doesn’t have a chant, there’s been one banner of him that was linked to the points deduction and that took him almost a year to get, Lampard had his face in the gwladys far sooner.

Where exactly is the love in? If anything it’s open season on Dyche every day on here even in pre season.

Nuance isn't allowed on the internet

You have to be either one extreme or the other

Sadly that's creeping into real life too
