2023/24 Sean Dyche

If Romelu Lukaku (even the current version) was on this team to start the season, we’d have at least 6 points.

Dyche led Burnley to a 7th place finish with players we’d all feel are inferior to whatever standard we hold ourselves to. I’m not sure 8th is really the ceiling.

But the squad needs much better players, just like Martinez needed at Wigan.
I dunno, I feel the whole landscape of the league has shifted in the past few years. To break into those European spots you need to play football with a few more risks. But who knows? We're a million miles away from it right now but fingers crossed. Things flip fast in football.

I like Dyche probably mostly because I’ve accepted his limitations & still think he’s one of the best we could have for our current situation. He’s the pragmatic choice.

It genuinely feels in his pressers he’s trying to be open & honest with us without banging the excuse drum too much.

He may come across flippant when being asked the same questions over & over but he hasn’t come out & claimed black is white like some other managers in the past.

It will change again once we’re any good.

I don’t think his brand of football is really that bad on the eye. This isn’t Allardyce, sit back with no press and hoof it up the pitch if you ever get possession.

There’s structure to mitigate being hit on the counter, but even and Uber pressing team like Leeds with Marsch had that same sort of structure (the infamous narrow quote).

The team he had contained Pienaar, Coleman, Barkley, Lukaku, Gareth Barry, Jagielka, deulofeu, and one of the greatest premiership left backs- Baines. Every single position was better than current, and he had us lower half in the table.
He inherited Moyes' ageing squad, and brought 3 of those above into the team dont forget. We had a net spend for Martinez's time here. And we saw an Everton team playing football for the first time since the 80s.

And you think that represented some sort of failure.

If you fail to do anything with it, yes that's what failure means

Dyche will keep us up, just, if we keep our forwards fit. I want him to see us into the new stadium and consolidate for a season there too.

I was a bit surprised by our start to the season, we didn't look ready and not taking the chances vs Fulham really affected confidence

It's not making / taking chances that's cost us so far, I think we look just solid enough (i.e. better than Sheff Utd, Luton, Burnley and perhaps a couple of others).

Beto and Danjuma look enough to keep us up if McNeil comes back we gel with the new boys.

Keep em at it Sean.

This is such an odd opinion and one i have seen from a lot of people.

Its blafantly obvious we have been cfiminly mismanaged, are a bottom half PL side. But this manager should be getting more out of the players to his disposal.

Why cant Dyche motivate Godfrey to return to the player he was under Ancelotti and getting England caps.

Why has Onana and Patterson regressed and not being utilised properly in terms of the value they have to the club and potential they have shown previously?

The games against Wolves & Fulham were evident, this style and way of playing is out dated! If you relinquish control of the football in your home games against bottom half teams, you are going to be more erratic when you do have the ball, hence poor finishing.

The players blatantly dont enjoy this style (apart from Tarkowski) and its evidant to see, they arent alowed to express themselves or show any bit of individuality.....including being told how to wear their training socks.

8 full internationals on the pitch yesterday including Englands number 1 goalkeeper (dont get me started on him taking the armband off pickford) 2 under 21 internationals and couldnt muster anything lkke a chance for 60 odd minutes.

People think Dyche's style will get us over the line as its 'solid' etc. We are conceding at a rate were we will be going down! Its all very very similar to Benitez

Let’s get Ancelotti or some other all-time great manager in then, if it’s that easy.

We can only attract lower rate managers because we’re Bill Kenwright FC - a mediocre Club that has no idea what success is and is constantly circling the drain.

It’s going to take time to chip away at resolving and recovering from this mess, at which point we’ll hopefully be able to attract a higher calibre of Manager.

It’s not like I want us to have less-regarded Managers at Everton, it’s an acceptance of the reality we find ourselves in.

I'm a bit concerned about Dyche, not only is he a limited manager with no real plan b. He hasn't brought the things we were led to believe he would in his plan a. He was supposed to make the team solid, well drilled, fitter than most, tight in defence and with a really positive mental attitude. I really haven't seen any evidence of this yet, so, we have to suffer his agricultural style of play, whilst getting none of the promised plusses.

I'm not saying sack him, but only because I don't know who we could persuade to come in who is any better. Didn't want him, I'm sorry we got him, but, I don't think this is the time to sack him. It should have been immediately after the Bournemouth game, it now needs to be immediately after the last game of this season, even if we stay up.
