Bloody hell mate, we were by far the better team. Playing a 5-2-3 wasn't a defensive cowering it was just a way to rest the CMs and also offer a bit more protection to Patterson as a wing back.

I personally dont get the hate for Dyche, and the way some want him gone, but everyone is different, to do what he did last season in keeping us up was unreal, and bar 2 of the performances this season, all have been pretty decent

No one hates Everton like Evertonians. We're through to the last 16 and with a decent draw giving us a real chance to make the last 8. Yet still fellas are bitter because the manager actually got it right.

Villa are a much better team and were playing at home so ultimately Dyche did what he thought was needed my friend.

At some point the fans just need to trust his judgement - people moaned at the Brentford line up and a few weren't happy before kick off yesterday.

He'll get it wrong at times but so does everyone - Pep lost Citeh a Champions League Final with a daft team selection but thats the way it goes.

What game were you watching? We pretty much dominated that game last night playing 3 at the back and it was hardly Keane’s fault for the goal, it was an unlucky deflection that could have come off any one of 4 players

3 CBs is how you play 3 at the back

It can be an attacking formation - 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-2-1 etc

I’m far from a Dyche fan; but last night was perfect in terms of tactics.

He played a 3-4-3 to stop them passing through, the front 3 pressed really high. The 3 centre backs split pushing the wingbacks up and therefor pushing garner and Onana further forward to prevent Villa from passing through the press.

They resorted to either long balls, that were dealt with by the CB’s or lost possession to our press.

Keane played quite well, and again I think he’s a poor defender overall. But he had 1 mistake that he got caught on possession.

it worked so whats the issue . Horses for courses. It allowed us to be higher up and on the front foot hence winning the game . It wont be used probably again for a while

Nice to see us massively more confident and purposeful over these last two games, something to note though, and I don't want to trash the lad, but I think we're far more competitive without Iwobi, the fee we got for him was superb business imo.

On that note it's probably time to also gradually faze Gana out, a Rolls Royce player in top form and in his day but he's getting on, only one game but the CMs yesterday did very well as a 2
