When i saw the team sheet i thought to myself " going to defend deep here. Frustrate them and hit on the counter." The formation, team selection and gameplan are down to the manager. A summer holiday isnt going to change keane into a competent centreback. Isnt going to stop iwobi and his final ball and it deffo isnt going to change a team that survived on the last day into a team which can ignore how the opposition plays. Villa pushed 2 men onto gana gueye after 5 minutes coz they could see he was isolated and we give the ball away so cheaply. Every time we play these we make mcginn look quality. Not good enough from dyche.

One’s area of performance is completely in the view of the public whilst another’s, has a lot of behind the scenes work as well eg footballing infrastructure alongside transfer activity. No one fully knows what Thelwell is doing behind the scenes - we simply do not know but wouldn’t it be odd if he also has failed as well as the two previous people in that role. Even if he did leave we either scrap the role or recruit for it and Pinky and Perky would be the two that appoint his successor.
I just think his position is untenable. No director of football has been allowed to do his job. Thelwell took the job knowing that. I am not convinced we'd actually notice the difference if he wasn't employed by the club...

We're big enough that we should be nowhere near relegation

Performances like that garbage have become the accepted norm. Dyche won't do anything to change the mentality because he's a manager who is used to losing. I'd be shock he puts together back to back wins at any point all season
It's not the accepted norm , it is the normal but certainly not accepted.

Back to back wins have to come in the next 2 games .

D'you know what Chris, I forget which manager it was now that you actually supported. Was it Lampard or Dyche for just last season?

I know you have a revulsion for our managers and hate them in equal measure, but you did get behind one once, I'm sure. 🤔
It was Lampard, David.

Not once I have ever, or will ever, consider Sean Dyche a good manager. You know there’s a reason we’re circling the drain, it’s the managed decline of this club.

From the poor players, to the poor managers.

But then again, how can anyone call themselves an evertonian after their actions 2 seasons ago; I mean, they can pretend but true colours where shown

His system doesn't work though Dave that's the issue. It's too negative and players end up chasing shadows all the time. You simply have to offer more at this level now. Every time we had the ball Villa got it back easily because EFC players had nobody to pass too because we don't get forward quick enough because the setup doesn't allow it thus we ended up giving the ball back to Villa. He does need the injured players back I agree but he needs to come up with some answers to problems and do it quickly otherwise he is going to be on borrowed time, it was always going to be a big job for someone of Dyches limited ability lbh.
No, I dosagree. With a striker to lead the line and wingers he can get goals and then lock it up at the back.

He needs players in...but he wont get them.

We're down if we dont. I'm pretty sure of that now.

Dyche has to take a lot of blame. We've had nearly 4 months to prepare and still no striker, as for Thelwell, a pointless position keeps braging to the press who we are after, instead of keeping quiet

There is a reason no other team plays like we do Dave and that's because it stopped working about 20 years ago, it's 2023 not 1993!

He has to do something otherwise we will go down.

The calls for dyche last season (instead of a decent manager) and the acceptance of young and Adams by large parts of the fan base show that it is the accepted norm.

Of course losing is accepted at this club. It's being happenning for my entire lifetime, and no one from the club has ever shown any accountability.
So you are saying you accept it ?

Don't count me in on that or I guess the vast majority of the fanbase.

The club , if you mean the decision makers you may have a point.

But we won't accept it ever.

Agree with you Dave. I think we're going to suffer all season.
