His talking points for post match should be:
1. I got it terribly wrong today
2. Despite that, the players should feel embarrassed by the performance they put in

3. You will see changes next time out

If he tries to deflect or blame injuries in any way, it’s just pathetic and he’ll have just lost what little respect he still has from helping us survive last season. That was shambolic from top to bottom.

Oh, and he should be giving the players an absolute pasting in the changing room before they get on the bus.
I just hope everyone keeps in mind that both the bold items above can be and are in this case true at the same time - yes, the players were embarrassing in both quality and effort, but so were the tactics.

Playing Keane in a high line against Watkins and Diaby? Keeping the fullbacks / midfielders narrow against a left-back who is purpose-built to send in cross after cross? Conceding short corner after short corner with only one man defending two or three, letting Villa virtually walk the ball into the box for better chances? All on the manager. And putting in Maupay instead of Cannon, when this would have been a perfect opportunity to give a young guy a run out to prove himself in a situation where the pressure was already gone.

Honestly one of the worst managerial performances in recent memory. Every bit as bad as the crap served up by Benitez and Lampard. Unacceptable.

Yup. If he cannot insist on getting the few players from the board that he feels he needs to give him a better than even shot at staying up, then he'd be well advised to resign and put his reputation above his wallet because I doubt there is a top flight future for any manager who takes Everton down. He needs to play the long game.
Same with Thelwell

If we act like a championship it will eventually happen

We have a manager who acts like he's still at someone like Burnley. The job and club is far far too big for him

He was never a long term appointment. The club want him to keep the club ticking over in the PL until BMD. He saved us last year.

Agree with this to an extent.

His reputation would be intact after keeping us up last season.

Couldn’t believe this part first half to be honest. Standing off Digne and letting him pick where he wants to put the ball is literally just playing to his strengths. You have to make him uncomfortable or he’s going to hurt you, and it’s not like he’s dribbling past people if you do press up on him. Couldn’t believe it.

It didn't take you long to become a manager hater again.

I think Dyche is far from the problem, but if he cant get players to work his system he has no business stayoing here and should resign.
Unfortunately, I can call out a dud.

Still think he's the man for the moment, but he needs to ditch the stubbornness and make some decisive changes to keep the fans onside - starting with dropping Keane and leaving Maupay sat on his backside until he's ready to leave the club.

Thelwell is different. He's totally incompetent. He has no future regardless so he's hanging on to the biggest job he'll ever have for dear life. Dyche at least has a shot at a decent club if he can engineer an elegant departure from this ghost ship.

The towel was thrown in by the players when the 2nd goal went in which is alarming 2 games into a season
100% commitment and effort is the absolute minimum but it must be disheartening even when just conceding the first goal, given everyon on the pitch and in the stands know we won’t score. I have a little sympathy in as far as the team/squad needs help and this has not been forthcoming by the absentee owner and the bellend Chairman

Dyche out, take Keane and Maupay with him. His tactics defending corners were exposed and he never reacted. Keane over Branthwaite is embarrassing. Paterson is a league one player, don’t play him again.

Garner needs must at RB. Graham Potter in.

Agree. It's literally the only thing Digne is good at these days. And we not only let him do it, we practically begged him to.
