2023/24 Sean Dyche

He is by no means the glamour manager that you'd expect to take Everton back to a team that challenges for European spots, but he is absolutely the right man for the current circumstances.

Strong character without any self-pity. He is giving the players no excuses on performance despite the shambles that is the running of the Club. 99% of the other managers out there wouldn't have embraced the financial challenge that he has been confronted with.

If he safely keep us up this season (which he will) and then finds us a mid-table spot next season, we will have ridden the wave and can hopefully look to kick on with a manager more suited to the school of science in our new ground.
I think that’s what he has said. I think he knows his strengths and limitations in an interview and fully expects someone else in to move things forward.

Dyche knows how to set up a team for the occasion. I can’t really argue with any performance except for arsenal where we made no attempt to attack

One of the big things he really needs credit for though is his handling of Dom. Dom should be very grateful that Dyche came in when he did and actually knew how to manage a player back unlike Benitez and Lampard who played him as soon as he was half fit
Think that’s actually a bit telling about Dyche’s mentality and belief in himself compared to those other managers. Lampard and Benitez had to rush Dom back constantly because they knew they’d get found out otherwise, they needed his goals and ability to paper over the cracks of their managerial styles. Rush DCL back or get sacked, that was their mentality.

Dyche on the other hand seems to be a clear realist but also wants to manage Everton becuase it’s the best job he’ll ever get potentially, outside of the England job. He believes in himself to do well enough for us ans trusts that becuase he’ll be here long term (in his mind at least) then why would a risk DCL for only short term gains like the other 2 did.

I think we were stepping stones for a lot of managers in the past few years but I think in fairness with Dyche I think we have someone who believes Everton is the final step he aimed to get.

Think it’s clear that he trusts that eleven…but outside of gana I don’t think he trusts anyone else off the bench to see the game out.

Don’t think danjuma is his type of player at all, in an ideal world we’d have another two widemen in the team who would give us something similar to McNeill and Harrison.

Thought the chermitti sub was interesting. You could see him screaming at Beto when he came on last week for not closing down properly…be interesting to see who starts on Wednesday.

We badly lack just one player with a bit of creativity, someone who can make something out of nothing.

….I know I’m in the minority who like the job he’s doing but I do wonder if there’s a bit of snobbery with some posters thinking the ‘stereotype’ Dyche is not good enough for our club.

The nonsense of ‘hoofball’, the ludicrous idea he ‘plays his mates’, ‘Dyche fit’ ffs.

He can only work with what he has and I much prefer watching Dyche Everton to Lampard or Benitez Everton.

Maybe Moshiri finally got one right.

Nothing snobbish from me, he’s made some bad calls, in tactics and team selection that’s why I had a problem with his management.

We do, but I do wonder if he'd play him anyway over players with graft. Which is the big question long term really, McNeil, Doucoure, Garner and Harrison for example work hard but will he sacrifice them for someone with more end product and less defensive work.

My point is we concede chances in dangerous areas due to the way the fullbacks are instructed to play.

It's great we won but it's not ridiculous to discuss this when Dyche has shown a stubbornness over his playstyle that's cost us points against teams that quickly switch the play.

Great to win and look solid and effective.

Wonderful to see improvement in Myko, Branthwaite and Onana.

But the use of Young, Keane and Gana still leaves a lingering taste.

Hes been poor with team selection and subs. Moyes was similar until he stumbled onto something with Cahill.

Hopefully Dyche is learning.

We look toothless in open play with the 3 behind DCL. The rest of the team looks very good.

He will keep us up easily and we are looking more organised each week so full credit to him but wow we are a tough tough watch. Dyche ball for more than a few seasons is a worrying prospect

I am enjoying the football when this 11 is on the pitch.

This season we should finish mid table based on this eleven.

With players like Pickford, Branthwaite, Onana and DCL and a defensive solidity we should be 10th.

Brighton have won 1 in 7 (Ajax) theres no reason we cant take 3pts next game and get further up the table.

I’m going to judge him from this point on. The team has in fairness scored much more as of late and has been competitive agonist the teams we should have. He has gotten us in a more reasonable spot with a huge win against West Ham on the road.

He had to put up with the likes of Maupay, Alex Iwobi and company for our first three games so I will give him a pass for that. He undeniably blew some games in that early time frame, but we are still a team in transition at the end of the day and young at that. The board did a godawful job supporting him and only brought in a second striker at the last minute.

The team is young and has a bit of potential. He is building and playing the right way. Is he a good enough coach? Very debatable. Has he bought himself breathing room with this victory? Most definitely.

Got to say I've felt a lot better since that absolute horror show v Luton and Arsenal

Still long way to go but I cannot deny I can see the team improvement

The start was horrid and we can't do anything about it now but put it behind us.

We are safely a mid table side.

On a better run of form.

But I’m still uneasy about the subs he makes and the narrow defensiveness with the fullbacks.

Needs to be beating Palace and Forest in the next 4 games to pull us into the mid table pack and away from the relegation pack.

10 games in now, unlucky to not have more points but equally we have tougher games coming up. If WWE can sort out the home form, we'll easil be midtable come the end of the season.

All any of us want is us winning games. If they do that, the noise around Dyche subsides. We are finally looking a bit better but it's been no plain sailing like, our home form is ridiculously bad.
