2023/24 Sean Dyche

Think that’s actually a bit telling about Dyche’s mentality and belief in himself compared to those other managers. Lampard and Benitez had to rush Dom back constantly because they knew they’d get found out otherwise, they needed his goals and ability to paper over the cracks of their managerial styles. Rush DCL back or get sacked, that was their mentality.

Dyche on the other hand seems to be a clear realist but also wants to manage Everton becuase it’s the best job he’ll ever get potentially, outside of the England job. He believes in himself to do well enough for us ans trusts that becuase he’ll be here long term (in his mind at least) then why would a risk DCL for only short term gains like the other 2 did.

I think we were stepping stones for a lot of managers in the past few years but I think in fairness with Dyche I think we have someone who believes Everton is the final step he aimed to get.
Two really good points here

Dyche comes across a bit David Brent sometimes with his repetition of buzz phrases but it’s because he actually has principles he won’t compromise on which he developed through experience and one of those is making sure players are ‘fit fit’ and that has benefited Dom massively

The other is that we are kind of Dyche’s dream job. Proper fans, proper club, but usually with a bit of spending and pulling power for getting good players in and with a recent history of European football. He’ll be thinking if he can weather this bad spell and get a bit of money to spend in our gorgeous new stadium he’ll have so much good grace in the bank he could have a bit of a Moyes run of having time to build something that fights for Europe and trophies… and I think he’ll rate his mentality above Moyes when it might come to getting over the line in a cup!

10 games in now, unlucky to not have more points but equally we have tougher games coming up. If WWE can sort out the home form, we'll easil be midtable come the end of the season.
A little better finishing in the Fulham & Wolves games and we'd be sitting in 8th spot on 16 points ( we deserved nothing from the Luton game ). Throw in a few contentious decisions ie Anfield , possibly a point or 2 more.

Can't be anymore wasteful slip ups like those if we want to progress.

Sorry Chris for the late reply I have been busy in the past week so haven't been able to go over the numbers I'm sure they are readily available online, twitter (X) is a good source for these things. But I think it is clear now 5 games have been played home & away that we are clearly better set up for away games.

The home and away form table would be the simplest way of demonstrating this.

Regardless I'm very happy with today's performance and it is the first time in 3 years that Everton are able to show regular decent displays and resilience rather than one good game in 10.

Let's hope that's continues COYB!!
I don’t use Twitter mate; I don’t want aids poured into my eyes.

So the answer is, you cant

Cheers Sean

Mate Chris won't respond now. He's fuming Everton won a game under Dyche and will be back when we lose one I'd say. He's fuming Everton arent first in the league because the team in the 80s did it so why can't we?
Hi Ste the coward,

Remember when you made excuses for losing at home to Luton and said “it’s a long standing issue” therefore not the managers responsibility.

That was fun

The past few weeks he has shown signs that he may be able to do what he was brought in to do, keep us in the premier league untill we get to Bramley Moore. It is fairly difficult to watch though. If he can get us out of the bottom. 6 and keep us there then the poor football will be bearable.

As soon as we are in the new ground, or, as soon as the financial pressure on us eases, he has to go. As I've often said, there is little point sacking him, unless we really have to, because no manager who is any better than Dyche would come near us in the current situation.

By the end of the season if we can get into a reasonable mid table position then we will know what has happened with the investigation thing and with the ownership issues. The stumbling block for us with attracting managers (imo) is our poor track record with recruitment, I do think it's scares targets off. I am of the belief that if 777 take control they will bin Thelwell off (there have been suggestions they are not impressed with his 3 year recruitment strategy) Looking at their other clubs signings are very data driven and fitting a specific profile, I think we will have seen the last of the 'PL experience' stuff. We don't need vast pots of cash to recruit, just need to be a bit more savvy about how we do things in the market.

If i am crticising him hes been to influenced by the question of being able to manage a big club, especially at home.

We go after games more at home as i think he believes we should on the front foot at home - we're limited and dont have a massive amount of quality players - i think that's out problem at home, we arent good enough to beat most teams in the PL on the front foot at home.

If we play more of a contain and counter like yesterday, Brighton and Brentford at home - even Bourmouth had way more possession then us, i think we negate Luton, Wolves and Fulham and are picking up more points.

It is shocking we didnt go down! So glad things are looking better this year. 😮‍💨

This is the phase of the season - between now and Jan we absolutely need to target and focus's on putting in performances and getting results, if you look at the last two seasons mate its the results between Nov - and Jan that have dictated that we would be fighting for our lives.

For man management he seems to be doing a good job with DCL, Branthwaite, McNeil, Doucoure, Garner, Tarks, Onana.

If he can get the best out of Patterson, Chermiti, Myko, Harrison, Beto - well done.

I don't have much faith in Keane, Godfrey regardless of the manager. Gana, Coleman, Young, Gomes aren't going to improve now.

Perhaps there is a future with a stronger squad which suits a more creative manager - but right now he is about par.

I don't like him and I don't like the way he goes about things but we have the players who should be enough for 11th-14th and if he can do that at the end of the season then fair enough I guess.
I pretty much agree with this.

I've always subscribed that our players (or at least a core 9-12 of them) are better than what a lot of people make out (worst squad in the league, a load of garbage etc etc).

Par for this group with the decent additions made over the last 18 months should be around 12th, with a feel good factor and good coaching it can be a top half squad of players.

I can't get past the negative tactics in some of those home games that we threw away! If we picked up just 4-6 points in any of those games we would be sitting around 8th right now

Bar the mad signing of Neil Maupay, most of Thelwells purchases have been hits!

Another red flag for 777
