Thing is, I keep looking at some of those home games we've lost and I can't come to any other conclusion other than that we've been unlucky and/or our players aren't great at converting chances (which I'm not sure he can fix). We've certainly created enough in the Fulham, Wolves, Luton and United games to have won them all.

I couldn't give you a coherent reason why we've taken the chances in away games, but not taken them at home.

Pretty much this. We've played well enough to have won all those games, but the Fulham and Wolves games were absolutely daylight robberies. To have 2 of them in a row was ridiculous.

My view is our standard of performance has been broadly consistent both home and away, I just think away from home we have an edge because we are more comfortable with the onus being on the other team. This is the element Dyche hasn't worked out yet at home but let's be clear - it's not like we've played rubbish at home, just missed so many chances.

It's impossible for it not to turn at some point if we maintain that level but doing so while maintaining the away form is a big ask.

I've had my pops at him (even as recent as Sunday) but in all fairness, he has steadied the ship, despite an enormous amount of outside chaos, and has us on an upward trajectory, which after the last few seasons shows his suitability.
I have no qualms in him continuing on into next season and working with Thelwell to continue transforming the squad.
The problem for me and it’s all about opinions. The thought of giving up possession every other week in our new home, is not great imo, even poor teams are having more possession yes we still create chances but we need to push teams back and getting the crowd involved.

And apparently Beto has been on our radar for a while, but I’d imagine every striker out there in a certain price range has been on our radar. But Beto is dyche player, big, strong but poor on the ball, the thought of wasting the Onana and Branthwaite money on more beto’s is terrifying.

….to think Dyche wants big, strong forwards who are not good on the ball is laughable. If that was the case, he’d play Beto over DCL. The stereotypical Dyche views are a bit daft.

Thelwell brought Maupay, Beto and Chermiti in at a cost in excess of £50m. Dyche has to utilise what he’s given.

imagine Dyche saying to Thelwell; ‘go get me a striker who’s not very good but big and strong’ :celebrate:

doing a bit of disservice to thewell ( on the latter two anyway )

i doubt thats how the convo went, it was probably more so thelwell saying we will only be able to sign players when we dont pay much if any of the fee now, i doubt if we had money chermiti and beto would have even been on the list.

Think what you want but it was nailed on the back up to DCL would be at least 6ft 3.
A long ball manager ain’t buying someone 5ft nothing.

And maupay was a deadline day singing, having been turned down on all the other forwards Lampard and Thelwell wanted or could afford. Chermiti was obviously one for the future, probably nothing to do with dyche and Beto again suited our financial situation, but I’m sure we could have done similar deals and last time I looked DCL was 6ft 3 very good in air, and not quite as good on the deck. Not like it’s caulk and cheese. Also more closer to 40mil than 50mil

Let’s see who we buy under dyche moving forward

….there’s no excuses for Thelwell. It’s a ridiculous transfer model.

Clubs selling but not receiving monies for 12 months is surely a massive red flag. Players not in demand elsewhere and on offer at way over market value.

Thelwell should be buying good footballers within financial restraints he has. It’s a catastrophe buying poor footballers just because you’re negotiating a late payment fee. Thelwell is accountable for Beto and Chermiti. If they are effective he’s rightly praised but if they’re not he should be criticised.

We are committed to paying £40m on two players this summer, strange how some posters think that’s good business.

if only it was that easy, facts are facts though good players generally arent allowed to leave their clubs on klarna.

as i said, beto and chermiti wouldnt have been nowhere near what they would have initially wanted, they were what we were left with when no one else would play ball on our terms

What makes you think we had money available to pay upfront for better options?
