2023/24 Sean Dyche

I noticed the commentator yesterday started talking about “long passes,” which sounds an awful lot better than “long balls.”

Almost every time the possession stats are shown, they also make time to point out that low possession won’t bother Everton.

Maybe the establishment is starting to respect Dyche’s approach?

Expecting the epl to bring in points deductions for “having less than 35% possession in home matches if you wear a blue kit “, rule .

The stats and what we were seeing was saying this, but I think for a lot of people (harshly) there's nothing which they'll focus on other than the result and you can't win every game. Obviously at the end of the day, results are what really matters but you usually have to play better than the opposition to win a game. It's difficult to keep your head when you're losing at home to Luton etc, but there's v little in the results lately where I feel performance levels have changed from earlier in the season.

Obviously the Villa game was unacceptable, but that's genuinely the only game where we've played really badly. Even the Arsenal game, while we were poor on the ball, if you look at the chances in the game it was one moment where their player pulled off a great finish which was the difference between 1 point and none.

I think, generally speaking, we've been good all season.

And just one final point for all the xG lovers...

We all know that without our points deduction we would currently be 10th - to take that a step further, if you look at the balance of the games we've had in terms of xG etc and look how many points we should have had on average (and do the same for everyone else), we'd be sat 8th (in other words we've been a bit unlucky)

give over.

Burnley game coming up will be a watershed moment with regards to the relegation battle. Hope we can kick on and deliver another great win, that would give us real breathing space.

Encouraging to see praise for the manager here but there's a tough group of fixtures coming up. Going into them with confidence is great but i hope we still have confidence coming out after New years eve.

I think if we win at their place we are safe tbh.

I fully expect our deduction to be reduced and I can’t see any of the bottom 3 making up 10 points on us over 20 games

Does he have a background in footy because the arrogant little chode has been appearing in all my feeds, trying to avoid looking at them so he doesn't poison my algorithms

He’s in mine too, think it’s because he’s been on talk sport a few times .

I always wondered who he is but didn’t want to research him as then the algorithms would think I want to see more of him

I think what he meant is that is wasn't some pre-planned dance move that a couple of divas had worked on before the game. It was authentic in that it was just genuine spontaneous joy and emotion and the fact that all of the team responded in exactly the same way shows the unity in the squad. TBH, that's exactly how I want to see the team celebrating. Keep the dancing for friday nights.

O wouldn’t mind some kind of pre planned celebration if dobbin had dropped his shorts and started helicoptering infront of a sky camera to reveal his “ PL are corrupt” tattoo down his shaft

I admit I have not enjoyed our style of play for many years now.. including the hey day of Carlo, I found us unwatchable even when results were going our way. No possession, minimal chances created and the hope to knick one while trying to defend 20 shots on goal..

But with Dyche this less possession still seems to have purpose, press and intent. Intent was the word I used to gripe about. It is clear that without possession we are still creating and not just hoping for a miracle. That 29 pass goal shows he is beginning to win the mentality war of self belief that this team has so far been lacking for too long..

Less possession is our rope a dope …

Frustrate them , let them move around and when there is an opening , take it
