2024/25 Sean Dyche

Not the full truth though is it? Nothing there about him & how he sets his teams up.

Has this obsession with “experience” yet plays the same players who’ve consistently let this football club down.
Moyes, Koeman and now Dyche have all said not dissimilar things.

Are they all wrong? Do we need to take a breather and reflect? Or are they all desperate deflectors from their own shortcomings?

Discuss.
If we as fans can take credit for building the team performances up then we cannot be absolved of fault either, can we?

If you read this thread people have given proof that Michael Keane was his least called upon senior defender last season, Ashley Young was the only right back available, and ye if he's playing Doucoure 10 games from now and we aren't winning then you can start accusing him of having favourites. It was the first game of the season.

He absolutely has his favourites into a system that he prefers, every manager does. He spoke about experience last week but is rumoured to be playing Dixon ahead of Holgate today.

Yet once again is playing Keane ahead of O’Brien. He knows what he’s getting with the 3 behind DCL, they suddenly haven’t become clinical over night. He’s playing them 3 again today away at Spurs, no pace on the break at all.
He did keep us up though and comfortably. There will be no change or evolution this year just survival-ball.

Yep like I said, he did a good job last year with the tools he had.

However, he said it himself he can only set his sides up with what he has available & what he has available is 2 far superior footballers.

it’s “survival-ball” because he’s set that feeling after week 1, he’s turned it into a “scrap” mentality so he can stick to his one way of playing. He had that excuse last year, he won’t this

I haven’t said that? I’ve said we’re absolutely part of the problem.

However, calling that out after week 1 where we’ve been absolutely battered isn’t going to go well for him is it?

I never said you did I appreciate that, however some fans wanted to burn the club to the ground last Saturday.

If he starts saying stupid things about our fans again after being tonked 3-0 at home he'll be clearing his desk Monday morning

If you read the whole article he didn't say anything about the fans - its the whole boom or bust bandwagon - he's not wrong either.

Said it during the week, that threads like this will just react binary week to week win or loose depending on what's going on.

The finer point in all of this is to respond instead of reacting, he's basically saying that - but the whole band wagon around the club is boom or bust.

Its that very same mentality that's got us through about 7 or 8 managers in as many years and tore the guts out of the club.

And it’s unhealthy.

They're all ball bags.

Back when Moyes/Koeman were managers qualifying for Europe wasn't a mad concept and it's something both manager aimed for. My one gripe with the Dyche quote is the whole Europe thing, it's a exaggerated statement, no Evertonian expects Europe right now

He criticised the fans last week after that 3-0 tonking at home

No one made him do that. He did it himself

He’s half right isn’t he? We’re one mad fanbase but coming out with that publicly is only going to end one way for him.

Clearly did a good job last season at blocking out the noise, getting points on the board, getting the players working. He was absolutely right when he said he “sets his teams up with what he has available”, exactly how it should be.

Unfortunately for him though, he’s been given better footballers in the attacking positions (Lindstrom, N’Diaye) & has to find a better way of playing on the front foot and infront of goal. If he persists with the same 4 as last week (which he’s doing again apparently), the pressure will mount quickly
Lindstomnand and n’diaye are not proven to be better footballers. Nothing in their career points to them being better than what we have.
