2024/25 Sean Dyche

To an extent, I can understand the Friedkins reluctance to pull the trigger, I'm sure that they have potential managers lined up, are they available immediately? If they are. Then they need to sack him now. If, however, their chosen replacement is not available until the summer, they need to realize that Dyche is so one dimensional that he can't change our formation, either from game to game, or to adjust our formation during a game as required. The only solution, short term, is to sign some blistering pace out wide who can get up alongside the centre forward quickly and then, hopefully some of the draws against decent sides we have achieved can be turned into wins going forwards.

Really though, my hope is that they have realised how limited Dyche is and have a replacement lined up to take over this week.

Hi guys, has anyone given an idea as to why the manager’s results and performances have been far inferior this season so far to last? Is it because we lost all of Godfrey and Onana’s goals in the summer?
When Sean Dyche did a “fantastic” job last season he also managed to break a near 150 year club record of 13 games without a win, I wonder what sort of records he’d break if he wasn’t apparently overachieving? Thoughts?

The whole season feels like a vacuum mate and it hasn't helped. Everywhere we look there is instability or a pause, the takeover, the stadium, the contract situation with players and staff. All driving a level of instability and uncertainty it cant bit help to all leak in my opinion.

We sometimes forget the men sensor team is a work place environment and stability at the moment across the board isn't great.

If im a player and i have 6 months left on my deal and who ever comes in and says "right lads this is a new way of doing things, this is the future and we're all in this together" - im thinking sod that im not going to be here in 6 months. For me how we collectively drifted into that situation (though not necessarily a bad thing) hasn't helped overall motivation and morale.
Yep get all that, I just don’t see what other choice we have…one thing is for certain, actions need to happen to effect a positive change, whether that’s keeping the manager in place and getting new players, or changing manager and getting new players, something needs to happen. If there are three favourites to drop, 8 see us in there. I just think the lack of wins are doing us big time.

We had 27 shots in the Brentford game so we were clearly trying to put attacking pressure on them and win the game, and making out otherwise is just complete nonsense to be honest. We didn't have good enough plans to do it, which is absolutely a valid criticism to aim at the manager, but when we reduce this stuff to 'he’d rather not score’ like a lot of people do it's a bit pathetic really.
Where do people say that? I don’t see that. I see people saying he has priorities in games and one of the top on for are clean sheets, which means less focus on attacking. Even Joe Hart said he prides himself on clean sheets.

Please back up your statement with evidence that people say that.

I watch a lot of football, and honestly, almost every other team in this division are entertaining to watch.

They attack with pace and numbers, they take inventive set pieces, they keep the ball on the floor. Even Southampton, you can see what they are trying to do at least.

When I watch us, I’m actually embarrassed. Aimless long balls into the box. Central defenders hitting 50 yard diagonals like a rugby player kicking for touch.

This isn’t football. Not in any modern sense.

If you are still supporting Dyche, then get up off your knees and grow a pair. Go and watch some kids kicking a ball in the street or go down to your local Sunday league matches. Just re-discover the joy in the game.

It’s not meant to be torture, and it doesn’t have to be.
Spot on that, its dinosaur tactics it’s all he knows its awful to watch the sooner he’s gone the better he’s taking us down

I think bring in some pace out wide and goal threat in the coming weeks and we'd get to the summer a Premier League team.

That's why I don't understand why you don't think Moyes would crawl to Everton.

He's not getting a bigger job, or potentially any job in the Prem.

If you mean crawl towards a £6mill per year over 4 years plus a £10mill compensation payout for early dismissal as well as having final say/a big say on transfers....

It's diamond encrusted glass he's crawling over.

I think we'd at least have a fighting chance, but, I would still be more comfortable with a more competent manager coming in. The whole league know exactly what to expect from Dyche and the poorer teams , i.e. those teams around us, have found ways to play against us.

It’s not a new ‘goal threat ‘ we require it’s a system of play that doesn’t leave the current ones isolated up front and fending for themselves. That or chasing long balls to the touch line.
There is a reason his teams are habitually low scoring , it’s not just the quality of the strikers.

OMG mate, do you know how many people would just start shouting "JOBS FOR THE BOYS" after one goalless draw?

We're not allowed to employ former players according to the too-cool-for-school bridage.
You can employ former players who are qualified for the role. What qualifies Baines and Coleman for this role currently?

I've noticed that when someone says something you don't like your default is to call them something like the "too-cool-for-school brigade" or a hipster, when often it's just a reasonable opinion. Under no circumstances should we put any completely untested coaches in charge of our relegation battle. That would be insane.

Do I genuinely believe what?

That he did a brilliant job to keep us up, when he arrived going into Feb with us in 19th?

Or that he did a brilliant job to keep us up last season with the point deductions, especially after 2 successive seasons we went to the final home game?

See, I fundamentally disagree with this.

Too many are putting all Everton's difficulties on the manager, when he's very much a symptom.

I shared my view we were relegation fodder before the season started with Lampard, and we've only stripped the team since. We're the only team in the league to not have invested in any window for 3/4 years now. So yes, I believe we are relegation fodder - I've shared that view for 4 years now.

Your opinion.

I strongly disagree but each to their own.

Priding yourself on clean sheets and not attempting to win games are not the same thing though are they? I mean quite how we can say trying to keep clean sheets is a bad thing I don't really know, but that's where we're at I suppose. The post I was responding to is an example of what i'm talking about (fairly obviously really), this whole idea of us never trying to attack and the full backs never crossing the halfway line is just not true. We do try to attack but we're rubbish at it. Much of that - although by no means all of it - is obviously down to the tactics and coaching, but it's daft when people make out we haven't tried to win games or the only reason the full backs don't get assists is because they aren't allowed to leave their own box. We're not exactly all out attack obviously but we're nowhere near as conservative as people make out - we're just really bad in an attacking sense.

Players need to be made aware that Pickford is a goalkeeper not our playmaker we think he's TAA from across the park in most games
