Welcome to Barcelonaton FC
More than that for me is there is a clear instruction not to support the striker. We literally never commit more than 1 in the box, unless it’s a corner.
Then you have the likes of Harrison and co being asked to cut inside, rather than whip it in, when in the odd occasion we have an attack with more than one on the box.
I get the style of football to a point. I have seen us struggle to make a 5 yard pass on too many occasions but not trying to commit any support to the striker is just criminal.
Doucoure does but again, he's hopeless on the ball. Last season it paid off for him with goals when he got in the box, this season it's not.
But I agree out wide, none of them get near the attack as they're more in support of the defence. But that's where pace comes into it.
As you saw with Forest last night. Compact and men behind the ball...rapid wide players on a counter. A technical player in the 10. And a finisher who can hold the ball up.
Our set up is similar. The quality of player IMO isn't.
The next question would then be who do you bring in and what style could this squad play as it is?
