2024/25 Sean Dyche

Don't wanna come across as negative, but it was really, really hard to tell who the PL team was in that first half last night.

Very long season in store for us all.
The thing that really wound me up last night was the 2nd half kick off, McNeil on his own in the centre circle, ball kicked straight back all the way to Pickford only to be hoofed back up to the Doncaster GK. Utterly ludicrous at this level, Sunday league stuff that.

Yes, we are still not far in that process. But he should stop playing his usual front 4, that would be a first step and I am sure we would see an improvement, we looked pretty alright for awhile against Spurs when Ndiaye and Lindström came on.

Lindstrom isn’t a right winger, to be fair we are terrible in those positions. We badly need a ball playing centre mid and a natural right winger.

90% of what he sets his team out to do is Sunday league stuff.

Its horrific at best

Thought this was an interesting post below the line on the guardian match report

"As a Burnley fan, Dyche will always be a legend. He kept us in the Premier League for six years and contrary to most views we played some really great football when he had a few quid to spend and we finished 7th and got in the Europa. He has however two main faults. His refusal to play new signings unless they are 'match fit', which usually means around half a season of cup games, training matches and coming on for the last five minutes of a League game. Also talented players in the U21's never get a chance even if the incumbents qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment and are slower than sedated snail. Of course we had a disastrous season under Kompany by doing the complete opposite, ditching the players who got us promoted for a new team of young, inexperienced players who had never played in England let alone the Premier League. A happy medium would be preferred :)"

If he starts Keane, Doucoure, Harrison/McNeill and if he brings Young on for Coleman on Saturday, goodison will be at boiling point!

Brighton literally did this against us.

I know your all desperate for him to go but you can choose legitimate arguments rather than a kick off that pretty much every single team does. Not his fault if Pickford boots it straight to the keeper.

We were talking at the game yesterday about how we're planning to play, and there isn't a real consensus; we have no real identity as such.

You could say we're designed to counter, however the wider players aren't utilising their pace as they're clearly instructed to come inside...

... or worse, backwards, more often than not. We have a striker in Dom who is most efficient attacking the ball in the air or sliding onto crosses, but we don't do it.

Our midfield spend time on the ball showing a desire for possession, yet the passes rarely look to eventually break the line, instead looking like mindless possession.

We overlap on the right when Coleman is available, whereas we never do it on the left. If McNeil has the ball, it's inside and being solely left-footed it's inefficient.

That's why I like Ndayie, Lindstrøm, Iroegbunam and Dixon up to now because they have looked to break the line, drive at players or overlap.

Please Lord, I hope Dyche doesn't coach it out of them!
We have got some promising young players in NDiaye Lindstrom Ireogebunum O Brien Dixon Armstrong. Play them and see were ot takes us? They have pace and athleticism

He will definitely coach it out of them

Fair enough if people want to complain about the style in possession but the idea that we're the only side to play kick-off to the keeper who gets you up the pitch is just people being desperate to be angry.
I don't think it is
Brighton, to use your example, play through the lines a lot
We hoof it a lot
Wanting to give away possession immediately says everything about our style
It says very little about Brighton's

It is his fault.
If it's not working because Pickford is booting straight to the keeper, change it up.
Or have your coaches work with Pickford on distribution.

It's the same argument as "whats he supposed to do about Doucoure constantly getting caught offside, he's not out there playing"
That's also his fault. He can coach Doucoure to look along the line and keep himself onside.

Injuries is another one. Maybe double gaffer day wasnt the smartest pre season move.
