2024/25 Sean Dyche

I think that's very fair and I hold a very different view of Dyche's managerial ability to yourself.

He undoubtedly had very difficult circumstances to deal with and if he maintains PL standing he will have done a decent job but , IMO , the football is godawful and he is not the man to take Everton to a different level.
The Championship would be a different level.

Let's be honest he was brought in to do an almost Sam Allardyce job. Not to take us to a different level.

The sensible thing would have been to do likewise, that we did with Allardyce, at the end of the season (last season) and sack him.

He was basically fired on Sky Sports News tonight.

That might prove to be a very stupid and costly conversation for the club if morale drops even further now.

A rudderless circus.
It was so unnecessary for Textor to wade in on Dyche.

I’m not a Dyche fan by any means, but he deserves more respect than that.

He’s gong to have to face a question about it in the press conference now.

It’s a tricky one for me, on the one hand historically our squad(s) of hopeless money grabbing gets haven’t needed much blood in the water to down tools, however they haven’t really picked them up yet.
Equally it’s not going to have done Dyche any favours but at least he’s on notice that Textor is coming and wants changes, sounded like he was offering him a choice, you can either be a part of it or not.
Dyche (like the other ‘dinosaur’ branded managers) talks about not being one dimensional, so either put up or shut up.
That he’s been given some flair players this season but so far have used them sparingly isn’t going to change anyone’s mind on him so he better start making better use of the tools at his disposal.

All that is fine.

It’s the public messaging that I disapprove of. A private chat is the correct way to do these things.

I think that was poor from Textor. Dyche knows, as do we, that when the ownership changes, so does the management. It was only ever going to be for a few seasons.

For Textor to question and, imo, undermine him in that way was really thoughtless and unprofessional.

I don't think he waded in as he was asked and he gave an honest answer which was...Dyche is putting out fires and keeping the club in the premier league.

If he's given a different objective and certain type of players he's not used to working with, can he cook

There's a lack of decency involved in saying "can he deal with good players?"

I mean, I wonder that myself.

But as his prospective new boss, there's just no need for him to say that on TV.
