2024/25 Sean Dyche

His proven safety record is a myth. He’s been relegated twice, hes as capable of being relegated as any other manager.

We are already IN the fire. Really, when you write stuff like this how, much worse can it actually get? The only reason we aren’t adrift is that nobody has played enough games to have the points to have pulled away. This is everything we are meant to be avoiding with him as manager.

He was also only one goal away (and Leicester collapsing) from being relegated with Everton.

Brighton - new manager's first game for a good team
Tottenham - first home game for team with point to prove after first result
Bournemouth - should've been a home win, we blew it
Villa - one of the trickier places to go this season, could've won, lost to a wondergoal

Stats don't really help provide context sometimes. We will start picking up points over the next six.
Love the optimism, but we can find excuses for the next six, too, without too much difficulty.

Leicester - on a high after promotion
Palace - the Textor derby with the jilted Londoners out for revenge and our team locked out of the Selhurst dressing rooms
Newcaste - D'Arabs...

etc, etc.

This start to the season is alarming. The manager's methods have failed. He is doing an incredibly difficult job in almost impossible circumstances, but if he cannot keep goals out and keep the defence tight, well, he's pointless. 13 goals conceded. No full back.

Of course, nothing will change until we have new ownership. That new ownership could find themselves taking us over in the Championship.

I do somewhat agree with this but it does work both ways though mate. I'm no fan of Dyche and the way he goes about things (I think he is lost in the modern game and needs some time out to refocus his ideas) but I would rather let him see his contract out than bring back someone like Moyes which would be kicking the can down the road even further imo. We will stay up over the course of the season but you can't sit there and say that another individual may or may not have this group in a better league position, that's some davek crystal ball bs and its a total lie tbh.

Of course someone could. It’s the relative risk of how likely is it that we find this person and that they want to join (knowing a new owner could get rid of them imminently). As another poster pointed out the last few managers the club have selected have apparently been doomed from the beginning (how wonderful hindsight is, out the bloke who wrote Lampard’s name on Goodison didn’t have it) so what confidence is there that the club will select the right person who would take us forward in the immediate short term.

It’s a balance of risk but some people are not even considering the downside risk. Someone said we could take anyone from the championship and they’d do better.

Anyone? Kompany walked the championship, Bielsa did then took Leeds down, Russel Martin is down with us currently, Nathan Jones and Rob Edwards both great at Luton both relegated, Selles also, Paul Heckingbottom and Chris Wilder look decent in that division.

The gap is absolutely enormous to the prem now. The club, and hopefully the new owner, should absolutely be using the time now to assess the right candidate to take us forward next season, but unless the club can get the new owner to sign off on the candidate coming in, there’s a big downside to going for a temp manager now.

To be fair if we turn up at Selhurst for the Palace game then we will deserve the 3-0 forfeit defeat.

To all the Dychettes when is enough for you??

When’s the point when you stop backing him?

Is it one or 2 more defeats?
Not before Christmas regardless of results?

When?

Dcyhettes - honestly someone could have come up with a better name - i expected better - disappointing!

The point for me is where Lampard got to, the risk of being cut adrift at the bottom - that aint happening in reality.

The industry will dictate that he will have to get good results i think four points on the board between now and the next international break, the context of performances is important as well. If he doesn't do that then he and the team give someone a decision to make, that not what i would do but that's the industry.

Be stupid mind and if it happens id be more concerned then i am at the moment.

Yes but has it been the easiest first 4? What does Opta say about that?

Clearly I’m not looking to defend Dyche, but “first 10” does include 6 games that haven’t been played yet.
Yeah, not arguing that. Lies, damn lies, and statisics. But there was seven points minimum there for us in those first four. We got zilch. If people are not alarmed now, well, we are sleepwalking into the Championship.

At least mine were real reasons though

Morning all. I truly believe we have some quality players who could, in a different system, under a better manager play decent football and finish mid-table quite comfortably.

I’m tired and frustrated watching this negative, anti-football.
It starts from the goalkeeper, who is clearly instructed to play long hopeful balls 75% of the time (he only goes long for England when there’s no other option), constantly launching hopeful balls, giving possession straight back to the opposition so they can build attack after attack.
It’s a never ending cycle, we’re constantly chasing the ball and the players inevitably get tired. We live on scraps and set pieces, eventually get worn down and beaten by better teams, set up to play better quality possession football.

Even if we did manage to somehow hold on and win yesterday, could you as an Everton player really have enjoyed it knowing you were chasing the game and being out played all game. It would be more about relief than satisfaction of getting a deserved win.
I’m not sure I can stomach watching another game with this man in charge, playing this brand of anti-football.

I don’t blame the players. Obviously Keane and Young should be back-up only, but again that’s on Dyche.
I can’t see that Dyches football is not to anyone’s taste. But playing Keane and young is down to having to priorities other areas of investment. Villa had so many more options in players a than us.
For context, statistically, Everton have the easiest first 10 matches of the 2024/25 season according to Opta.

We have lost the first four...
Well the next 6 should be there for the taking. Cos with the exception of Bournemouth first four are tough fixtures. I would have hoped to be on 4 points. Obviously a disappointing

We were dead and buried when he took over. Let’s not take keeping us up off him that season

The manner of the defeats this season are alarming already mate, dry bummed by a novice kid who managed for the first time in the PL

Lack of knowledge from the manager to see out the Bournemouth game, same yesterday

Total collapse when a team scores against us!

Impossible to get anything from a game when we concede first and can’t even grab a point with a 2 goal lead!

I don’t know how many alarm bells need to be rang here for fans to see right through this fella.
