I would say people will want results over goals . He's progressed a club which is why if he was abroad people would be fine my bet.

I don't necessarily want him but it is what it is. He's been offered a package by us therefore deserves it based on your analogy.

Why us? Because we're offering it and the club see fit.

I genuinely think he's the least risky out of a bad bunch of talent suitable for the role.

If Dyche is the only option I'd rather have kept Koeman. Koeman lost his job in large part due to the abysmal player transfer strategy, and now we appear to be making the same errors in manager recruitment. Dyche is the appointment of the myopic chairman. Hugely affected by recency bias. There are two options: a proven steady-the-ship type or a modern, energetic coach from the new school. Dyche is neither.

Burnley came away with a good win down south. The way Dyche sets up the team is really like Moyes, solid dreence, keep them out look for break aways and score. Hence like us back under Moyes many 1 -0's just like Burnley now.

Burnley don't have to use Williams or Jagielka at the back though

One thing with Dyche is that he built Burnley up much similar in Moyes when we were struggling annually.

Training ground, scouting etc.

He's done a great job and it's probably argued deserves a chance such as a job like ours.

My bet would be if he was coming from abroad then everyone would be fine.

I disagree with your last sentence, but agree with you more generally. For me if Dyche was able to give Burnley a top 10 finish this year then I think a lot more blues would find him a more palatable choice. He’s done a good job with Burnley no doubt about that, but the proof of his ability to push them on will be found at the end of this season. Unfortunately for us and Dyche we’re in a bit of a bad place right now which is why we’re looking at him in the first place at this time. As such hiring him is a gamble and there’s a concern that he’ll never do any better than Moyes did- a level which we were hoping to progress from not find ourselves going back to.

It’s not his fault but the hiring of Dyche would represent a definitive failure from the club to kick on after years of solid, if uninspiring, stability. From watching Burnley this season as well you can see a lot of the success is built upon supreme fitness and hard work tactically, all of which will come from the training pitch and the personnel Dyche has signed for Burnley- all specifically tailored for him with this work done in the summer. Can he do the same with our squad right now? It’s doubtful.

+1

That is how much I shudder at the thoughts of Dyche.

Indeed.

If we lose today and Dyche was parachuted into this crisis on Tuesday morning I think we will indeed go down.

These players are too technical and not fit enough for his brand of anti football.

Uh, no. If he was coming from abroad and had minimal top flight experience and was in the top 10 with Mainz or Genoa we'd feel the same. Not good enough.

We need a good first team coach, not someone who can build a team over multiple years. We have a D of F already. We are Everton, we aren't Wolves.

What style would Dyche play if he came here? How can you be so sure how he would employ the greater resources of Everton?

He gave free rein to goal scorers of the calibre of Ings, Vokes and Gray in the Championship. And he can organise a defence too.

And he's got a good record of promotion from the Championship. Keep him in mind - he might be useful one day.
I can't be sure. Who can. I might be pleasantly surprised. Hopefully I am. Just have a hunch it'll be about organisation and discipline though.

I watched the brief highlights on MOTD of Burnleys win at Southampton. To be honest it looked like they were lucky to win. It was all Southampton. But win they did.
We certainly need this type of win (luck) right now. But I'm under no illusions of the type of football we'd be playing under Dyche.

I think the type of football Burnley play is dictated by the type ( standard ) of player they can attract, even when they do develop/find a decent player, they are usually snapped up pretty sharpish by " bigger teams" Keane , Ings, , Trippier , Gray etc

I'm sure Dyche would love to play smooth flowing, attacking football, but he cannot attract that sort of player to Burnley.

When you look at his record over 5 years at Burnley ( and don't forget its Burnley we are talking about here), he has taken them from mid table championship to 6th in the Prem.

Yes he has a relegation on his CV, but he brought them straight back up as champions and has improved their position ever since.

I would love an Ancholoti, Tuchel,Conte,Pep type manager , but lets be realistic here, if we were top 4/5, pushing the " elite" those managers would look at us , not because we are Everton, but because we could possibly get them another trophy on their CV.

Unfortunatley, we are not one of the " elite", but with an ambitious young manager, Dyche is 46, who knows a little about the workings of the premier league, we could make the steps forward we all want.
