A: We sell Digne for £70mil.

B: We bought him for £18mil over a 5 year deal. Thats £3.6m = £10.8mil

C: £70mil - £10.8mil = £59.2mil this is immediately shown for this year on our books.

D: Lets say we want to sign one player for £59.2mil fee. We give that player a 5 year contract which is £11.84mil a year on the books.

1st year £11.84mil
2nd year £11.84mil
3rd year £11.84mil
4th year £11.84mil
5th year £11.84mil

So that means of the total £59.2mil this year we have only spent £11.84mil (next year onwards the same)

£59.2mil - £11.84mil= £47.36mil

E: We still have £47.36mil transfer budget where we can do the same again...

F: 2 caveats;
1: The wages also come onto / off the books
2: The annual payments for transfers have to be covered over the 5 seasons

But that is FFP.

That would make a RW who can progress with the ball important as at the Moment out right side is impotent

I think so to mate, generally if teams can shut down our left side, they are confident of holding our right (down the middle in the central channel as well but thats a different story), with Theo relying on pace the gaps between him and Seamus for link ups is often distant as Walcott plays of the shoulder, means Theo is always trying to get in behind, while Seamus is generally miles behind unless we are progressively building up, something Walcott isnt great at in my opinion. A different trickier, cannier right midfielder will be really important to out thret and balance, have to have different attributes to Walcott.

Came onto this thread late
IMO dont regard Reguilon as wanting a move to be cover for Digne ?
Therefore this could be fake news or Digne has made it clear he wants to move on ?

Or the club only tells them what's not happening, not what is.

Pretty much how it works and I get that the club obviously don’t want to reveal who their real targets are. It’s just boring and monotonous that as soon as a rumour comes up it’s shot down instantly by them. At least give us some false hope FFS.

Personally I like realism more than another Witsel fiasco haha.

And no way are we bidding 18 million for a player in one of the few positions we don’t need to overhaul. If it turns out to be true then Digne is already on his way.

Makes me laugh that paper.

Always there to pee on the transfer stories of the player’s we’re linked with, yet never once give us any indications of who we are, or could be in for. Pi-ss poor journalism.

Yes. It’s very easy to call the 97% of transfer rumours that don’t end up being signed, I could do it, so could you. No one would buy that we’re in the know.
