Transfer Rumour Sergio Romero

Who should we get? I get your sentiment but honestly don’t know what you think the club should have done, baring in mind it’s only become recently apparent that Pickford cannot continue. There is nobody class that we can get.

1. A proper keeper or pay the dough for Romero/Spurs keeper

2. Persist with Pickford

We already have a bloated wage bill - why add another to it who will offer us little to no improvement on the fella we already have in between the sticks?

Nobody knows if we have the money other than the club but I read it as we have the money but the club do think Pickford has all the tools to be a top keeper. Rather then replacing him they might think getting in competent competition is the way to go rather than paying money out for a replacement. Obviously I could be way wide of the mark and I know the manager isn’t going to publicly come out and say he’s garbage but given when he’s said maybe they want to try getting a response out of him through this route. If the scenario I think (again, could be miles from the truth) is true maybe they want to try this before flat out replacing him.his first season here proved he can be a top keeper and given his performances the last couple of years the only way from here is down, no club above us will take him. Rightly or wrongly the club might want to give him another chance

As someone with an extended Swedish friend group including my best man their crowd-sourced wisdom this evening is that Olsen is decent, vocal, good positioning, solid under the high ball/brave but prone to a couple of inexplicable errors on routine shots every season and with the odd rush of blood (red card for fighting etc.). In short not special but definitely considerably less erratic at the basics than Pickford and someone who they say organises his defence well. He's definitely good enough to be a threat to Pickford. On loan if he does well he stays and if he doesn't we can go into the market under less pressure next summer.

Just need to face it mate, the manager and brands don’t fancy this fella and don’t want to spend money on him. £10m plus a decent wage for someone we don’t want? I’d rather we didn’t. Nobody is selling us their first choice keeper on deadline day no matter what you offer.

I don’t get your point about wages? How will a loan bloat them, we’d be paying half the wage at best on a loan but you’re advocating signing a stop gap full time??

We are adding another player needlessly to the squad. Pickford is the arrogant type who'll take one look at this fella and laugh his head off.

He needs proper competition not someone who makes just as many howlers.
